MAN YouTube is being slow. I uploaded three videos last night, and only two of them are ready for viewing.

This is Levi’s JWW run. He got the weave entry great, but at the end he came out. You’ll notice that I just kept walking straight at the end. I even slowed down to pace him, and he still came out at the end. So I really am thinking it’s nothing I’m doing. It’s him… this time! He needs to stay in! He really might be trialed out.

So this is why I think I might be over analyzing. You’ll see in the next video, if YouTube ever makes it available, that I actually make him go through the last poll. I don’t know if I should do it or not, I don’t want to stress him, but I want him to know he really needs to go through!

Well, four days in blackfoot this weekend, lots of runs to experiment with. LOL.

And sometimes, if you get an telecom audit, then things will all clear up! ;)

Hmmmmmm……..interesting, you did keep going at the end - good thinking on your part to try that. Aren’t us dogs funny! Keep trying, I think you’ll find the key. I thought he looked real good running through though.

Thanks! Levi is a good steady dog, if not fast (collies usually aren’t very fast in the agility ring). I think he’s still having a good time. So not sure what is up. I wish I could ask him!

I think I see your problem.. watch his feet and his butt as he’s coming out of the weaves.. I think he is having a slight physical difficulty.. his back end is very tight (watch his jumps and his running.. he doens’t fully extend himself. )

Right before he blows the last few weaves, he hop skips.. can you get him adjusted by a chiro? or maybe some doggie massage? He needs to loosen up his butt.

Heya Jen. I could get him adjusted and see if it helped. At home, though, his weaves are perfect and he goes through all 12 without any problem. Head down, fast, and happy. It’s at trials we have always had problems. But who nows maybe that weekend he wasn’t feeling as good as he could!

I got thinking about this today. So, he does beautifully at home.. so what is different? The emotional state, I’ll bet.. do you think he might get a little stressed by trialing? Stress tenses up everything (think shoulders, neck and small of the back for people)..

Here is what I think you could try. You have lavender oil right? Do you have grapefruit? If not, bring an actual grapefruit with you to your next trial (it’s the cheapest way to get a good essential oil! Go for organic if you can get it)

Put a drop of lavender in your hands and rub them together.. then peel the grapefruit . Then, give Levi a good petting..

See if that makes a difference. (Lavender for stress, grapefruit for concentration)

Hi jen, Yup it’s definitely a stress thing for him. when I started agility, I was so nervous, and especially about the weaves, that he picked up on it and it’s been our challenge ever since. He only started weaving well for me the end of 2006 and the beginning of this year. I’m thrilled he is weaving for me now! But sometimes he gets stressed. And today he was hurt somehow, not running but on a potty break of all things. Not sure if it’s his pad or a muscle, hopefully just a pad.

I don’t have my Lavender with me this weekend (I’m in Idaho), but I can pick up a grapefruit at the store. Thanks for the help!
