Stepping Up

29 June, 2007 (07:24) | Uncategorized | By: User ImageCynthia [My Barks!]

Well, I might get smacked and stuck in a hole for this, but I started a Yahoo Group for the Utah Tailblazers Flyball club.

Utah Tailblazers Yahoo Group

Per some recent issues, I really think the team needs better communication. I’m not willing to leave the team, but I’m willing to step up and try to improve it. I mean heck, a team is a team and if people bow out instead of working for changes, then it just falls apart no?

I think it’s best to know the status of the dogs on the team, where they are in training, new dogs that are showing up to beginning practice, and what teams are forming and what dogs are doing well together. That’s not too much to ask, is it? ;)

On this day..

Great idea. I can’t imagine anyone ever smacking you or putting you in a hole.

    Well done! Good choice!

Now, the question is, do you have time to moderate it?

    Cynthia,

The University Update pingback is what is known as trackback spamming. Basically, you have allowed a trackback from a site that is trying to siphon your link juice. This can be bad for your site since Google can penalize you for linking to bad communities so it might be wise to delete that trackback.

Great site though! Just added your feed :)

Thanks Jen, I figure if I run and hide nothing will change. I think I should have time to moderate it, it’ll be a small group.

Org.. oh my, I didn’t know that. I guess my site is popular enough to get bad linkbacks. I’ll go delete the comments and mark them as spam. Is there a way I can get them to stop doing it?

Nope, no real way to stop them from doing it. Spammers have too many tricks up their sleeves these days. The only thing you can do is look at the site when you receive a pingback notice. If it looks legit, keep it. If it looks like that one, junk it.

Okay thanks for your help. I put them on my blacklist in SpamKarma2 so hopefully I won’t see them anymore.
