I was actually on the receiving end of this a couple years back. I too have a Dalmatian named "Nozzle". Well Nozzle is a good dog but has always been a little high strung and always seems like he's nervous.

My wife and I lived in a apartment complex at the time and had a neighbor across the hall come over and keep an eye on Nozzle while we were away. As it turns out at one point when my neighbor came over to the apartment to check on Nozzle we were in the middle of a thunderstorm and Nozzle got spooked and ran out the door as they came in.

Here we are away on vacation, so you can just imagine how upset we were, but lo and behold some nice Good Samaritan came to the rescue and picked Nozzle up on the road and called us to let us know she had found him and that he was safe. We were able to give her instructions on how to contact our neighbor and enjoy the rest of our vacation with peace of mind.

Thank God there are people who love animals as much as we do to care enough to pick them up if they go astray.

That is great that you stopped! I do understand it's hard to stop. Most people are not so setup for dogs as we are. :) And I admit, I rescued a poor matted white little thing once off a busy road, rope around her neck.. I didn't try to hard to find her home... :(

Ha! Good for you!!!

I did that once. I saw a stray weaving in and out of traffic, very scary. So I pulled into someones drive way, near the dog. He came right to me - so I opened the back door and he jumped right in! He didn't have any tags, and had a rope tied around his neck, very sad. I took him to the Humane Society, cause I thought if anyone is looking for him, that's the first place they would look.

I left some money for his care and my name and phone, in case they didn't claim him. They were there the next day to get their baby back, long with a little lecture from the humane society folks about tying up their dog with a rope.

I love happy endings!!!
