Lucy’s Swollen

12 August, 2007 (21:15) | Daily Posts | By: User ImageCynthia [My Barks!]

Lucy's Swollen FaceCrap. The side of Lucy’s face is swollen. I took this picture at 5:38 PM. Two hours before that she was fine. It just ballooned all of a sudden. We were thinking abscessed tooth, but now I wonder if she was stung by something. It’s 9:13 pm now, just got back from flyball practice, and she is twice as big.

I called the stand-in vet and talked to a vet tech about 5:30pm, and they said she should be fine until tomorrow when we can go to our regular vet. Ugh. I worry about her. I hate when our dogs don’t feel, or look, well. So I will be worried all night until we can get her into the vet tomorrow. I’ll call at 8am sharp to get her in.

Pfft.

I bet you’re right, I bet she was stung. That happened to Nala a few months back. One afternoon she was fine, by bed time her leg was huge. It had definite boundaries though. It was swollen from here to here and beyond that area there was no swelling at all. Also, upon closer inspection we found the hole where whatever it was stung her. Good luck, I hope Lucy gets better soon :(

Oh that happened to me once. Mum saw a little bump on my nose, went upstairs to fold some laundry, came down and saw my nose was as big as a little tennis ball (and that’s really big on me). She watched me close throughout the night and by morning is was down. I had gotten stung by a bee. Now she keeps benedryl handy in case I get stung on my tongue or something, cause that could block my airway. But it’s pretty common stuff for curious pups!

    Hope she is OK!

Hi Flo thanks for your concern. The vet thinks it is probably an abscessed tooth. Ugh. Too many bully sticks? but she loves bully sticks? this is her second.

Hey Johann.. icky bee! I’m glad your swelling went down. I’m always afraid of allergic reactions but so far we haven’t had any. The vet thinks it’s her tooth…

Oh wow a tooth! Yuck! I have to go to the dentist on Wednesday for my chipped tooth (it may be from the accident, and maybe the girls insurance will pay for it, yeah!).

    Hope Lucy feels better, ouch!
