17 Days to Camp!

Argh!!! Only 17 days left! Man, time sure flies. I have to pack, but I can’t pack up the car until after Jessi gets spayed and Lucy gets her tooth extracted, next Monday. Because I’ll be on my way to a training class too, so will have to have four dogs in the car with me. It will be packed.

And I have to get all my clothes together and find my camping list. And crap, looks like they do want a fecal on the boys. So I have to get them into the vet, too. Too much to do! I’m going to campw in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, can’t wait!

Lucy is doing well. The vet thought it was a bug bite and then rethought and thought it was a bad tooth. So she’s on antibiotics for a week and will have the tooth out next Monday. Poor girl, she is turning into a Bull Terrier like Spuds.

Oh but hey, the web cam should be working today!

Lucy’s Cheek

Lucy is doing well. At first the vet thought she did have a bee sting, but only one side of her face is swollen, and the vet said usually the whole muzzle swells up with a sting. So she took Lucy in the back and poked around, and now she thinks Lucy’s tooth on that side is tender and probably abcsessed.

So she’s on anti-biotics and has an appointment to have her tooth extracted next Monday.

My husband doesn’t want me to give her bully sticks any more. But she loves them, they are so easy to pull out of the box to give, less fatty than pig ears, and they last a long time. So we need suggestions for alternatives.

Lucy’s Swollen

Crap. The side of Lucy’s face is swollen. I took this picture at 5:38 PM. Two hours before that she was fine. It just ballooned all of a sudden. We were thinking abscessed tooth, but now I wonder if she was stung by something. It’s 9:13 pm now, just got back from flyball practice, and she is twice as big.

I called the stand-in vet and talked to a vet tech about 5:30pm, and they said she should be fine until tomorrow when we can go to our regular vet. Ugh. I worry about her. I hate when our dogs don’t feel, or look, well. So I will be worried all night until we can get her into the vet tomorrow. I’ll call at 8am sharp to get her in.

Pfft.

Lazy Weekends

We are not doing much this weekend. Saturday I cleaned the back patio (boy it needed it) and some friends came over to visit with Jessi. We’ll have to see what they think of adopting her. She is such a doll.

Today my sister and nephew came by to mow the lawn, and my parents came over too and we had some snacks. My Crabitat is coming along, I’m buying the things I’ll need to make it a nice place. I need to take a picture of the cholla wood I got, it’s cool. We thought of getting some more family insurance to keep us safe, too.

We brushed Sonny out more. He still has a lot of loose coat that needs to come out. I think it’s interesting that long haired dogs shed, and if they are not brushed regularly, the hair stick in their coats and forms mats. Not good. His underside and legs and bum area are very sensitive. And he has a hot spot in the joint of his right rear leg. He gets to go to the vet tomorrow to get a full once-over. He’s doing really well and is super friendly.

Sonny’s Smile

Isn’t this a happy face? Sonny got his bath on Friday night. I couldn’t take it anymore, he stank, and was so matted. He still has some mats but we are working on getting those out. He is so patient when I brush him. He doesn’t like it much, but he does a good job getting through it.

The family decided Sonny wouldn’t fit well in their home, and that is okay. We like it when people are honest and know everything about the dogs before they take them home. Sonny is settling in really well. He is a bit interested in our cats, but he hasn’t marked in the house for a couple days now so we are happy about that. Maybe he just needed to settle in. He sure loves sleeping on the couch!

Media for the CamCorder

As ya’ll probably know, I bought a camcorder a couple of months ago to video the dogs in agility, flyball, practice, etc. And I got this sweet new laptop, too. So I can burn the videos onto DVD and pass them out to my friends. Well, this laptop has a LightScribe disk, so I can also burn labels onto the disks, it’s very cool. I need to find a good place to buy the LightScribe disks and cd storage at a a good price for my camcorder!

I think the Super Media Store might be it. They sell LightScribe disks, too. Now I have to figure out why my minidisks, which are DVD-R, won’t do a straight copy to the LightScribe disks, which are DVD+R. Anyone know why that might be?

Happy House

We have such a happy house. In the morning I wake up to five dogs licking me and laying on me. They want breakfast! Then I let Sonny out of his crate (he is still crated so he doesn’t mark and he doesn’t bug Chase at night) and we all run out to play. Well Chase doesn’t play much yet with Sonny, but he does like to play with Jessi. Jessi’s new nickname is Jezibell. She is such a doll.

Then we have breakfast. And this morning I cleaned up the backyard. It has been gunky for months, since spring at least. I haven’t had much time to clean it up but this morning I did and it wasn’t too hot yet.

I gave Sonny a bath last night. A family came to visit him and they seemed great. I had to bathe him, he stank and was so matted. I ended up doing it myself. Cut out some of his mats on his belly, there are still more I have to get out. I followed him all around the yard yesterday brushing him out. He is gorgeous now, more so than he was before, and he must feel better. He has a lump by his ribcage that I want the vet to check out. Hopefully it’s just fatty.

Our dogs prance and play and eat breakfast, and now, as I sit on the laptop, they are all cozily asleep for the day. They will wake up for dinner and let me know when it’s time. Sonny is really trying to sleep on his back but he doesn’t have anything to lean against so he keeps flopping over, lol.

Web Cam Almost Working

Well finally last night I spent some time getting the Web Cam working again. All is fine, FTP’s to my host, the picture is there… etc etc.. I get to work this morning.. and what do I find?

Just means I booted the old laptop up that is powering the cam… started the cam software, and forgot to hit ‘start’. Bah! So still no webcam today. But next week for sure!
