Do your dogs let you sleep?

7 October, 2007 (09:21) | Daily Posts, Tatum | By: User ImageCynthia [My Barks!]

Actually… my dogs do let me sleep in the mornings, because I have a rule that I say when we get up. I am pack leader, not them. However, Tatum is only learning this rule. She did let us all sleep until 8 AM this morning though! Only a few squeaks. And I did have to hold onto the squirt bottle. But she did really well!

My SO likes routine and encourages them to get him up but when I’M asleep I stay asleep until I decide when to get up!

There is an upside to having old, arthritic dogs, they let you sleep as long as you want. Also, my dogs have access to the outside if they need to go before I’m up. Usually Rocco, my yellow lab, will get up around 5 am, go outside, do his business, bark at the early rising chickens and come back to bed. Then when I get up he looks at me like I’m crazy :)

My dog usually lets me sleep. Sometimes she doesn’t because my feet will be sticking out of the bed and she’ll cry if she sees them because she wants to be scratched by my feet. LOL!…she’s a weirdo. hahaha

Sometimes they wake us up.. but usually to go out.. for that I get up! Potty breaks will over my sleep anyday…

However, I have caught Targ just sitting outside… surveying his yard.. can’t really blame the “Night Watchman’s Guard Dog” though can I?

Speaking of our animals waking us up: Any cat people (or non-cat people who have a cat) will appreciate this hilarious but true video:
