Hi Cynthia,
the weights are very uncomfortable to walk with. It's one thing to really jog with them but walking a dog or carrying a bag and also the weights - just does not work. I found that a stick could be the best and the most convenient protection for someone who walks. It should be longer than a cane though, like shoulder high. It looks a bit weird first but really nobody cares. I love it: helps walking, keeps stray dogs at a distance, strangers seem to rather avoid me when I have a stick around. My 2 cents :-)

Hi Jan, it's interesting which dogs we find ourselves gravitating to. :) Me, it's the medium sized ones.

Hi Lora, I like having big dogs around, too. Sometimes I toy with the idea of getting a small dog... but I like a dog that can keep up with me on hikes, and is big and strong. :) And heck, my big dogs are lapdogs too!
