I think I’m going to take a few pictures of Chases coat over time. Every winter, it seems, he blows his coat to the point where it very thin and ratty. We’ve taken him to the vet and they say it’s allergies. It’s not just in the winter, it’s more like it’s in the fall and the spring. However, this winter his coat has been awful for the whole winter, and now it seems to be growing back in.
When looking at his tail, it’s easy to see the new growth. So I’m going to attempt to get some shots of his tail as his coat grows back in.
He’s also on coconut oil, but that hasn’t seemed to help him. He’s also on (mostly) a raw diet. With some very high quality kibble thrown in (in separate meals). But that hasn’t helped either.

I can identify what causes her to be more painful when I look back over the months of the journal and see on a daily basis how well she seemed to be feeling and what the weather was like and what her daily actiivty was like.
I’ve also been keeping a journal on Dylan’s aggression issues and his interactions with other dogs in general. If he meets a new dog I write it down and how the greeting went and all that. It’s really helped me keep track of what is causing his issues so I can manage them better and prevent those situations that cause him to be reactive. I’ve also been able to identify when he is showing signs of improvement and when he is showing signs that things are getting worse.
Journaling the problems with the coat may help you figure out what could be causing the issue? Adding photos would just make the journal all that much better!!

That also really cyrbed her wanting to eat MUD as a puppy… not just dirt, but mud. She quit that after we started with the Kelp Help. I add about a teaspoon of olive oil to her food daily, too and I can really tell the diff. since I started with that. Maybe switch from coconut to olive oil might help Chase? And, I really do like the Kelp Help. It’s probably got lotsa seaweedy yummy minerals and stuff that could be hard to get otherwise. I got that off the shelf at a feed store, not very expensive thankfully. Pepper says HI to Chase! Bonnie

My dog has really dry skin. I’m not sure if it’s allergies or the weather. Maybe olive oil would help him, too. I don’t think it could hurt him, so maybe it’s worth a shot.

could he be allergic to dust mites or mold? Zeus and Eris have contact allergies to the grass and it flairs up the worst in the fall when stuff starts dieing. Their feet loose fur and if they lay outside in the grass for any amount of time their bellies are effected too. One year Zeus was so bad I had to put socks on his feet just to go out potty. Now he has a fancy pair of boots.

My Collies and Sheltie eat raw food, supplemented with good kibble such as EVO or Orijen, as well as salmon or sardine oil and a supplement called Longevity by Springtime Inc. Their coats are always shiny. I do have a lot of clients that struggle with this problem all the time, even with great diets. Good luck finding the answer. Great site!
