Going to Colorado

I’m going to Colorado on Wednesday for a Three Day AKC Agility Trial. I’m driving down to Richfield to hook up with my friend there who has shelties she does agility and obedience with. And we are going to carpool to Colorado and stay there with a friend who has a couple of Australian Shepherds (do I hear a herding breed theme here? LOL). Anyway, it’s a long drive. 2.5 Hours to Richfield, and then another 7 to Denver. I wonder if there will be any new country music stations on the road. I think so… since usually there are many, and sometimes only, country music stations on the road. Unless we had Satellite radio, which we don’t, but it might be nice to have since I travel to dog things so much.

I wish I had a radio that supported iTunes tagging… I spoke about it before a while ago. I always forget the names of the artists when I hear a song on the radio, and if I could tag, it, I could keep track of it!

Fortunately we won’t be driving all the way to Florida, so we won’t be utilizing Florida High Definition Radio stations… but I really am enjoying HD Radio, the local stations, and would love to find more. I like news stations.. yeah I know, I’m old and boring. LOL.

Anyway, I don’t think I’ll have internet access for the week I’m there. We’ll see, I’ll bring my laptop just in case!

I Upgraded the Theme

Well, I’m thinking the slowness of the site has been because of the theme not being compatible with WordPress 2.5. I just upgraded the theme to the latest version and it seems much, much faster to me now. I hope that was my problem.

I also changed to one of the new, option, layouts. I really like this Dkret theme, it’s my favorite of all the theme’s I’ve seen. And I’ve modified it enough to really make it unique, I think. But this layout isn’t showing all of my sidebars so I need to play around with it and see what is the deal.

My VPS, also, is really maxing out on it’s memory. I’m not sure if that is important, or even critical… I need to look up info on it. I have plenty of bandwidth and disk space, but memory is short. hrm…

We have the Dog House

We have six dogs (please don’t tell animal control – the rescues don’t count, anyway)… and we have a small house, which we bought without really having Home Plans. It’s only 1300 square feet. I really do like our house, though. I wish all the rooms were bigger, so the dogs fit better, and I could do more training indoors… and we need a new kitchen, but other than those things I do like our house. Oh… and it’s brick. I like brick houses, they look nice, but the insulation is rotten and if we have an earthquake, the house will crumble with us inside.

I dream of being able to design my own house one day. Just for dogs.. well, okay for two humans and all our dogs. :) First I’d get a huge sectional couch… because as I sit here there is me on this couch, Tatum at my right (who I keep nudging with my elbow and making her moan), Muffit on my left with his chin on my leg, and Levi on my far left… yes we all fit. LOL.

So next time we buy a house.. and I hope we do get another, I want to start out with some good House Plans so we can have a grooming room, including a bathing room… a practice room that has nothing in it but a good matted floor and mirrors… and a nice backyard so I can practice agility, obedience, and flyball.

I love those Log Homes, and would love if I could find some Log home plans for a new house! And, preferably, have it on about 3 acres of land.. in the woods, with no neighbors so the dogs won’t bug them if they bark.

Okay maybe I’m not completely happy with our house… lol.

Is Tip Tail Draggin?

I’m trying to load this blog and it seems like it is being painfully slow. Is anyone else having this problem?I put the default WordPress Theme on, wondering if my Dkret theme is not compatible with WordPress 2.5 (which I recently upgraded to).

I’m going to leave this boring theme on for a little bit and see what other people say. The strange thing is, my other blogs seem fine, just this one is slow, and they are all hosted on the same host so that is why I think it’s blog specific.

Hrm…

Dogs on the Radio

I sometimes listen to podcasts about dogs… which is fun. It’s like listening to dogs on the radio… and recently I went and bought a high definition radio. I liked the idea of being able to get substations in addition to the regular stations I listen to.

And in addition to getting an HD radio, I’ve been looking into iTunes Tagging. iTunes is so easy to use… and if you hear a song you like, if you have a Tagging enabled iTunes machine, you can tag it and then you can remember it in the future!

And if you don’t know of any new radio stations in your area, you can check this link out and find some. I like that my old regular Public Radio station has an HD broadcast now! They need to have more dog shows! I have heard some local dog stories on my public radio, but not enough. I emailed them a while ago to do a story on a local dog park, but they didn’t end up doing it. Hrmph. They should have!

My Car at the Flyball Tournament Parking Lot

car-1 When I was at the flyball tournament in St George last weekend this is what happened to my poor car in the parking lot. No garden decor is going to hide that darn dent. Gonna cost $2700 to fix it… fortunately my insurance deductible is only $500. But still. Not like I have $500 just lying around. If I did, I’d do more dog sports with it!

I still have faith in dog people… probably it was a spectator that did it and then just drove off. Probably someone in a truck, as the bumper line of the other vehicle is higher than my bumper.

Made me mad… but I was having fun and didn’t want to get too mad and grump around all day. We chose or feelings, right? So I still had fun and just brushed it off as part of life. Oh well!

Tatum Jumps!

Tatum Jumps! I have been starting to take Tatum out in the back yard and I’m introducing her to jumps. Today before dinner she was so enthusiastic! I was thrilled. I held her back and said ‘rreeaaaddy….’, and over the jump she went! I was thrilled! We did it a few more times and she just had a great time.

Tatum Jumping Using a cottage cheese lid, I use it as a target for her to head toward after she jumps, loaded with a treat. So she’ll focus forward and keep her head down. Gotta get all the parts right for starting her to jump. I can’t wait until I can get her going on more than one jump, and take her out to where I practice!

Chase’s Tail

Chase's Tail I wanted to keep a visual record of Chase’s tail and his awful coat. It’s easiest to see it on his tail. This is a good picture that shows the feathering of his tail. And as the spring progresses, it will most likely grow in more and I will compare this picture to future pictures and give a good idea of how his tail grows in.

Low Thyroid, salmon oil, flax oil, allergies… he has the gambit. And they say mixed breeds are healthier. Not in Chase’s case! But he does have a pretty cute tail, even though it’s a bit stringy at the moment. Maybe some Branson private golf lessons would help us exercise… naw, we get enough doing dog sports!
