WW – The Dog Bed

Lucy in her bed

This is Lucy in her bed. Lucy lives with my friend Marie and isn’t she a pretty girl? She fits perfectly in this bed!

Levi the Goof

Well Levi saw Lucy in her bed, and really wanted to fit in it too! I swear he stood in that bed for a good ten minutes trying to figure out how to fit. LOL.

Levi Ranks in Agility!

I’m sooo proud of my collie boy Levi. He has had weave poll problems since we started agility way back in 2004. But that’s okay, we have struggled through and we are in AKC Excellent B now, preferred, and we get a ribbon here and there and get by and we have fun. And fun is the most important point anyway!

The fun thing about having a dog that is fairly rare in agility, like the collie, it’s possible to actually rank in the top 10 dogs in the country. And Levi ranks!

2007 Collie Rankings

If you do a search on the page for Pembroke you’ll see him in two places…
Excellent A Standard Preferred
and
Excellent B Standard Preferred

He is such a good boy! *loves*

Goin’ to the Zoo

My house is a zoo… with six dogs and two cats. And who knows how many mice… but the cats are supposed to keep the mice away! :)

I like meeting other people who are as into dogs as I am. Especially those involved in dog sports. And online communities are just fun. So I usually join online communities about pets when I can and meet people.

I just signed up for ZooToo.com, an online community for those of us who love animals. I really like the layout of the site… very nice. And you can add all your dogs and cats and other animals you have, upload their pictures, and your own. And you can join groups and meet other people nearby you are far from you. You can also earn points which can get you free samples or your shelter a makeover.. though I’m not sure if that’s in real life or if it’s on the web. I guess I’ll go find out!

Looks like a really fun networking site!

And Three is a CD!

I am so thrilled! Levi got his CD today in Obedience! Three for three, he qualified all three days. He got a 180 and would have gotten a 189 had he sat on his halts in the heeling. Well, we will work on that for sure!

Here he is on YouTube. I fought with the video software for about three hours tonight. And since I have no sound on my laptop, thanks to Vista, there is probably no sound on this video. But once I get Vista reinstalled I’ll redo the video.

My obedience instructor tells me that the average times it takes someone to get a CDX (that’s open obedience) is 21 times in the ring. And getting a CD in three for three times is amazing! So I’m very proud of my boy. I hope it doesn’t take us 21 runs to get 3 legs for our CDX, but we’ll be working on the dumbbell and broadjump and hopefully Levi can go into open in August.

I can’t tell you how thrilled I am! To Q and do such a great job at it… it’s just so nice to Q again after struggling with Levi’s weaves in agility for so many years. I’m so excited for this CD!!!!

Levi is now:
CH Pembroke Faded Glory CD HT RE AXP AJP
And those are only his AKC titles, lol. He has many more in other venues! And maybe we can have a party this fall, get some Halloween invitations, and celebrate all Levi’s titles! ;) I figure I’m not going to get titles after my name… so I get them after my dogs’ names. And really, the titles themselves are not the important part. The titles are just a representation to me all of the things I’ve done with Levi, and all my dogs. All the accomplishments we’ve done and all the amazing fun we have together. :)

Bring on the fun and challenges!

Levi Obedience Leg Two

Levi is such a good boy! We worked his halts yesterday a bit, and again this morning, before going in the ring and he did a little bit better. Except for on the figure 8 he didn’t sit at either halt. But that’s okay, he doesn’t really know it, and my obedience instructor says he probably is thinking he’s in the show ring again and standing pretty in that ring!

He got a 182.5 on this run, a better score than yesterday, and I was happier with his heeling too. Novice is so much heeling… it’s almost a heeling test with a couple of extras (stand for exam and recall) thrown in. It’s going to be really fun to do open with him once we get out of novice and he gets his CD! My collie boy with a CD, I’ll be so proud!

Maybe when I retire we’ll have to do the show circuit… Levi might be too old then… dangit, but I’ll probably have Tatum and Chase and maybe a new dog too. I’ll have to find some Los Angeles jobs to pay the bills then!

Levi in Obedience

[blue]VW316HTvju8[/blue]

Levi is such a good boy! He didn’t weave again today doing agility… which means I’m going to pull him and work weaves for a while. I won’t trial him again in agility probably until September, or maybe even later than that. We’ll have to see.

But in Obedience he did good! He got 2nd place. This is his Novice B Obedience run.

He got a 175. My friend said that the judge was really hard, and Levi did good anyway. That’s okay.. 200 is a perfect score, 170 is needed to qualify. Levi didn’t sit on all his halts, which knocked a bunch of points off. We have to work on that!

It’s his first leg towards his CD in AKC. My sweet collie boy is doing well in obedience!

Now maybe if we had a bus for sale and headed up to the trials we could get better gas mileage!

Agility Practice Tonight

I took Levi and Chase out in the drizzle tonight and we had a great time. There was a Steeplechase course set up at a friend’s yard and we went and tried it out! It wasn’t a very hard one, I will admit… but it was fun. Chase did a great job. That boy runs like the wind, I swear. He did great, watched me, stopped on his A-Frame contacts, and even called off a tunnel, which is very hard for him! He’s not entered this weekend in the AKC agility trial, but I love getting opportunities like this to work him on a full course.

Levi did great, too. I think we have a plan for his weaves this weekend. I need to collect him, and firmly send him into the weaves. When I did that he was getting the entry every time. So we’ll see how he does this weekend. And I shouldn’t be nervous, and I need not think that getting his MXP and MJP are like getting a gold metal at the Olympics or something. Heck, it’s just agility and it’s just for fun! :) So we are gonna give it a good try and maybe we’ll get him some Qs this weekend. We have a three day agility trial, Friday Saturday and Sunday.

And I do know how to lose weight… I took the border collies jogging this morning again, I just have to stick with it! And I think I have the motivation to do so. Though, of course, I have to work it around agility trials, flyball tournaments, and training.. oh yeah, and work.

So Levi, my sweet smooth collie boy, and I are going to do agility this weekend. OH!!! And Levi is also in Obedience! He’s in Novice B all three days! I figure worst thing that can happen is he doesn’t Q any of the days. Best thing… he gets all 3 and gets his CD! We’ll see!

Jogging Makes Border Collies Tired

Boys Jogging So, I want to get back into jogging. I wish I could take three or four dogs jogging, but when leashed on the streets I can only take two. This morning I took Chase and Muffit jogging and they loved it. Chase knows my jogging shoes and gets excited when I get them out. Muffit doesn’t know them… yet, but I’m sure he will soon.

I don’t think Muffit has been this tired since we went camping! He is fairly high energy, and he does need more exercise. I’m realizing I can train three dogs… two is better, though. But four is really taxing my time and Muffit is not getting as much training as he needs. Well, I guess he may not be one of my big competition dogs, I still want to train him up for flyball, though. He is starting to get it in the back yard… the box, and he likes it!

So this picture was from my new cell camera phone. It’s not that great quality, but it’s nice being able to take a really small camera with me everywhere, and a phone too!
