Hey there,

Where I live we mostly have NAFA tournaments, but the occasional U-Fli tournie pops up too so I have raced in both. What I love love love about U-Fli is that the time remaining in the warmup is displayed for all to see. Helps a LOT for cases where you have a green dog who needs to make the most of every second of warmup. Knowing exactly how much time you have left makes it a lot less stressful.

Regarding the format of races, I believe both NAFA and U-Fli have the option of, say, a 4 of 4 format or a best 3 out of 5 format. Which one gets used depends on factors such as how many teams are entered, and, well, other factors that I have no clue about as I've never been involved in organizing a tournie. :-)

Oh and I love the lower jump heights in U-Fli!

Cheers,

Lisa

I have only been to one NAFA tournament. So, I can't really make a call to which I like better. I have also never been to an outdoor tournament.

But, I too, love that in U-FLI you know before and after points right at the tournament. I like that you also receive their title pins right there. I also like the singles and doubles runs that U-FLI offers.

I haven't been to a NAFA tournament that organized the heats the way you described? All the ones I have been to were a set number of races for each heat and a set schedule just like in UFLI.

I do like getting a pin at the end of the day but I like certificates because they look better hanging on my wall. I don't have near as many as you do so it hasn't come to a point where I am putting them in the book.

I do like going to outdoor tournaments but I know that I am a rare one. Ufli doesn't have outdoor tournaments that I know of. I just like being outdoors with my dogs and enjoy soaking up some sun on the weekend. Guess if I didn't I wouldn't have to have a biopsy next week though. Maybe being outdoors in the sun really is a bad thing.

A few times I have been to NAFA tournaments that gave out ribbons and plaques for certain titles. I've never seen that at UFLI. So I guess there are advantages to both!! I really like getting stuff that represents that we did a good job. I don't love the UFLI pins because I don't have much use for them. I did buy a cork board to hang them on but I haven't gotten it hung up yet. I didn't really know of another way to display them.

Mhh, I never heard of not running all the races. When we did NAFA we ran every race that was scheduled and got points for it as long as we a) finished the race in time b) did not break out. We got toys for placing, but no pins and had to wait months for a title certificate.
Not sure what you mean by not getting points and title pins in Agility. I haven't been to an Agility trial that doesn't give out info on the individual runs.
