What I’ve Been Doing

Utah Dogs

Well I haven’t been posting much now have I? Well, I’ve been workin’ hard at my work. Which is just not as much fun as dog things for sure. But in my free time I’ve also been working on the Utah Dogs website that I have up.

Since the host lost their hard drive Utah Dogs took a hard hit. I think I have an old database backup, but I don’t have a recent one, so I’m rebuilding the whole site from scratch. Again. I swear for the zillionth time. On the good side, I have really good backups now, LOL, that I probably won’t ever have to use because the host also has good backups now too.

So that’s what I’ve been up to. Tonight I have obedience class with Tatum and Levi. Tomorrow I have two appointments for my neck… an MRI (or it might be a CT not sure) and then Physical Therapy at noon. I am looking forward to both, as my neck has been hurting pretty bad lately. Bleh.

The banner above was done for me by Lora over on It’s The Dog’s Life.. isn’t it amazing? She does such a great job!

Lovin’ Dog Sports

Even though I’m a bit burned out on my dogs sports, I still love doing them, and so do the dogs. I want to train more… trial less, and that is my plan for the next while. Through the winter i hope to get Tatum and Muffit on the flyball box, and doing jumps. Get Tatum doing agility… maybe even have Muffit do some agility too, we’ll see how that goes.

That is a video of Chase and I doing FAST in AKC agility. He is such a great distance dog, it’s fun to do agility with him though we need some work.

I find myself looking for places to put my videos online so everyone can see them. SportsVids is a great place to do so. I can upload lots of sports videos and have all my friends watch them! Online sports videos are fun, especially dog sports, of course. Watching sports clips of dog events helps me be a better handler for sure. And I do want to be a better handler. I think I have the ability inside me, I’m just not sure how to access it at this point. But it will come… maybe doing some ASCA or DOCNA agility will help me develop more of my own skills.

WW – Levi and Chase

Levi and Chase

Levi and Chase

This is from October of last year when we were in Nevada for flyball and agility. Levi has his Halloween costume on… aka the orange on his tail. :) Chase is running amok in the distance, as is usual for him.

The Seminar And Stuff

Well the Control Unleashed seminar is done. It was very interesting. I was, unfortunately, pretty much racked in pain for most of it and so I’m not sure how much I’m going to remember. I took some notes, which I don’t have with me right now, but I will go look them over and the information should come back. I’m still not feeling well, my neck still hurts quite badly today. That’s why I haven’t done much posting lately.

I’m thrilled that I have received a couple of comments from families who have Tatum’s sisters! How cool is that? I am excited to be emailing with them too. Tatum has two sisters… though one of them passed away recently. Her name was Foxy. If you want to see her you’ll have to head on over to Tatum’s Blog to see her.

Hopefully we’ll get some pictures of Tara, Tatum’s other sister. It’s amazing how much Foxy and Tatum look alike!

I’m not training much, trying to get my neck back in order. Going to go to some physical therapy hopefully this week. So until then, we can check out our futures trading to see what that is doing, and then get back to dog training.

At The CU Seminar

Today was the first day of the Control Unleashed Seminar and it was good. I already learned some things to do with the dogs. I will probably go over them more in a while. I learned something to do with Levi’s weaves even! To make him really want to weave. So that’s awesome.

It’s wierd going without a dog. And my neck is absolutely killing me. I decided to take the meds the doctor gave to me so hopefully they will help tomorrow. Maybe the alli diet pill will help me to loose some of the pounds I’m going to gain ’cause I’ve been eating too much at the seminar!

Oh well. =P

Control Unleashed Seminar

This weekend I’ll be at a Control Unleashed seminar both on Saturday and Sunday. I’m looking forward to it. I will admit, I haven’t read the entire book, but I’ve skimmed most of it. It is not really an easy read, if you ask me. :) It’s here in Utah. Up in Farmington. I’m in Salt Lake City so I have to drive each day, but it’s not a bad drive and I’ll be carpooling. I’ll be driving with two people, my friend Marie who is coming up from Richfield, and Helix Fairweather who is a well known and excellent clicker trainer based in Oregon. I’m really excited to get to know her better! I am planning on signing up for her Cyber Agility class online to work with Tatum (maybe Muffit too?). I really need to get going with Tatum my collie girl in agility!

Maybe they will sell cheap t-shirts for CU this weekend… lol I might buy one so I can wear it around! But I am really looking forward to the hands on experience. Even though I’m going to audit. Still I hope to learn a lot, especially about what to do with Muffit. Oh I took Muffit to my friend Christy’s last night and I will blog more about that later! I have to get Lucy fed, go see a new park for flyball practice we may practice in, see a little or Border Collie puppies (sooo excited!) get some work in, and then clean up the house a little.

Busy day, as usual. ;)
