Lucy and the Muffin Tin Game

19 December, 2008 (21:11) | Daily Posts | By: Cynthia

We read about this game from our friend Marie, who heard about it from Astrid’s blog.. and we thought we’d give it a try! As you can see, Lucy is doing pretty good. She’s eating better again and I do want to keep her engaged and give her things to do. So here, there are treats in the muffin tin under every tennis ball. And she has to figure out how to get the balls out to get to the treat!

Lucy is a very smart girl! She gets them out in just over two minutes. With her megaesophagus we don’t give her many treats, as we are afraid they will get stuck in her throat. So after she plays this game she gets to go eat her liquid diet so it all gets washed down!

I have videos of the other dogs playing the game too, they are uploading to youtube and I’ll post them later!

On this day..

Yay Lucy! She is such a cutie! Glad that everybody at your house is liking the game too. :-) The Shelties seem to be more inclined to use their nose to just shove the balls out of the way, than to actually pick them up and move them with their mouth. Funny how each of the dogs have their own style.

Lucy loves it! She is smart too. None of my dogs have been able to use their noses to push the balls out though… guess it’s just that they are a different size than yours. :) I wish I could train them all to pick the balls up in their mouths, gotta figure out how to do that!

Tatum’s video is taking forever to upload LOL because it’s so big because she was so slow!

What a great idea! I wonder how our girls would do with that since they have the short noses.. Although, they are also a little more inclined to just flip the thing right over and call it a day.

So Glad that this game is making its round. My dogs can’t get enough of it. Last time I used racket balls and it was more of a challenge for them. Keeps ‘em busy for longer ;-)

I still haven’t played that game with Ace, but I need to. He would obviously love it.

Wow!!! What a very cool game! She really picked up steam there and got those treats out pretty quick.

I am going to have to try that with my guys and see how they do. Something tells me that mine wont do even half as well as her. Hera will be the only one I bet.

    Thanks for the idea.

That’s so great! I’m gonna share it! I was thinking the same thing, may be a great way to teach ball pick up. Thanks for sharing it :) And Happy New Year!
