I was just doing a little research on dogs and illnesses today and ran across this post. It was less than 4 months ago I lost my own dear girl and this brought back the memories of the fight to keep her alive. They're worth every moment we give them and to be treasured every moment we have them in our lives. May your sweet girl live for many, many more years...

I am so glad that Lucy is doing so well. I had not heard of Megaesophagus, but my Cruella has (among many other medical issues) Megacolon! It is much like you described with the esophagus. Her colon is very enlarged and doesn't contract like it should. She eats a high fiber diet that helps her digestion. Hopefully that will continue to work well for her. Some dogs and cats with the condition lose all function of their colons.

Lucy is very lucky to have an owner like you!

Hard to believe it's been a year already. Lucy always looks like she's doing great when I see her. She's super fortunate to have you and your husband taking such good care of her.

I just wanted to comment to say that it's great to see dog owners go the extra mile for their pets. Some people may give up to easy when their pets are ill, it is refreshing to see that your hard work and dedication has paid off!
