Agility Equipment Storage

So I finally managed to get around to buying a storage shed for my agility equipment. I don’t really have much, but I do have some nice weave poll bases that I want to keep in good shape over the years. And they just are not easily stored anywhere.

The Mess

My husband helped me put it together. It’s quite nice. Though I really don’t have the money to spend… it was an impulse buy. I’d actually rather put tile in our basement, but that is something I really can’t afford right now. Bummer! Putting it together was easy, didn’t really help my weight loss diet at all. But easy is good.

Here’s a picture of Lucy and Jet after it was put together an I put most of the agility equipment in it. Jet and Lucy were the only dogs who were not barking, the rest had to stay inside.

Lucy and Jet

The tire won’t fit, of course. Nor will the teeter. And another jump that is all glued together that I don’t like. Other than that. it’s much more organized!

One and Three Quarters Mile

Levi and Jet on a Walk

Well I went on our first walk today for our 30 miles in 30 days goal! This is a picture I took on my cell phone of Levi and Jet. I took them both with. Levi because he doesn’t get out as much as he’d like, now that he’s retired from dog sports. And Jet because, well, because he’s the puppy and has the most energy of all my dogs.

I really love getting out in this nice spring weather and getting some exercise. And if I’m going to lose five pounds this month, as is another of my goals, then walking will help. And goals are a good thing… my husband is going to school, and has a goal to get his degree, go through some employment screening, and get a job.. then I can retire (I hope) and he can support me and my dog habit! Oooo I hope that really does happen, but I’m not positive it will. One can hope, though!

30 Miles in 30 Days

I do want to get out an exercise more. I can’t bring myself to go to a gym and do a treadmill or something, not with seven dogs at home that are always begging to get out and do something fun.

So, I’m going to try this goal, even though I’m starting a bit late for April. A new friend of mine is doing this on her blog, Lessons From and For 4 Legs, 30 miles in 30 days.

Tonight the weather is looking really good, the sun is out later so it’ll be sunny when I get home… and so I’m going to take a couple of dogs and go for a walk for a mile or so. I’d like to go more than a mile, but not sure I’ll do that. We’ll see how it goes! Maybe I’ll snap a picture or two. However, my MacBook is still in the shop so I don’t have a convenient computer to use. I just hope I can find my way home through the neighborhood.. maybe there’ll be some exit signs that I can follow, if I get lost! Though the dogs, quite often, know where home is and can get me there again!

More of Jet With The Dumbbell

So here is the next day of Jet learning the dumbbell… oh my gosh is this boy smart.

I think when I don’t touch the dumbbell, he is holding it more still. When I hold onto it is when he chews on it. So we will work that for a while. He seems to already know to hold it until I ask him to give it. But I don’t think he really understands, it was just what he was doing. As we proceed with the dumbbell training I’ll see what he really understands and what he doesn’t.

I find it really funny that dogs have a hard time learning to hold the dumbbell in their mounts and sit at the same time. :) Levi, Lucy and Chase all had a bit of a learning curve with that, and I suspect Jet will too. Maybe it’s like walking and chewing gum… ooo hehe. When the but goes down, the dumbbell falls out. But he’ll get that too!

Jet and the Dumbbell

So I’m working on little things with Jet for obedience… and I’ve been working on his dumbbell a little bit lately. Oh my gosh, easiest dog I’ve ever trained to pick up a dumbbell.

Lucy, Levi and Chase all needed squeeze cheese on the bar in order for them to even open their mouths to take it. Tatum too. Jet.. he just started picking it up right away. He is such a fun boy to work with. I’m also working on a hold, but he likes to chew on the dumbbell a bit and not be still. He’ll have to be still in the ring. It’ll come, though.

Then I’ll put them both together, the pick and the hold. I love training the dumbbell. It’s really fun watching the dogs learn and figure it out!

Dear Levi

This is a letter to Levi.

Dear Levi,
Jet is staying. He is not a foster dog. He is not temporary. He is not going to any other home, ever. So you can growl and grump and complain all you like, but you cannot be mean to him.

I love you Levi, i always will. I will work with you this summer even though you are retired. You were my first competition dog and we will always share an amazing bond. So please don’t be too jealous of the puppy.

I hope you will read this and take it to heart, because you don’t seem to listn when i tell you and snuggle with you and give bones only to you.

Love always, Mom

Dogs Can Be Annoying

Okay I’m sick now, in addition to my MacBook being broken, so I can’t post any pictures because I don’t have any on this computer to post. Sick sucks, and I’ve been in bed most of the day. Just got up to watch some TV.

It’s not all the dogs that are being annoying. Mainly just Levi. I spoiled him rotten all his life and now he just barks when he wants something, like a place on the couch, or he guards his bones from the other dogs. Or whatever… he is rather an obnoxious dog and I know I’ve created it! Maybe I’ll get some insurance quotes on him… LOL or maybe not.

He’s a good boy but I really just want some peace and quiet. Jet is chewing a bone. Tatum is sleeping peacefully next to me. Lucy is lying around, and Levi is just barking and yapping! UGH. I don’t know where the rest of the dogs are, but they are leaving me in peace too. :)

Flyball Was Fun

We had a great time at flyball last weekend… I haven’t posted since then because I’ve been sick, and tired… but mostly sick. And my MacBook is also sick so I don’t have any pictures to post. Bleh.

Chase’s team did really well. On Saturday they placed third. And on Sunday they placed first first in their division. It was fun to race again. Chase loves it, and can just let loose and have a good time. Chase did really well. He was start dog and his times held pretty consistent at 4.5 and 4.7 seconds. Pretty good for my boy. :)

He sure doesn’t need any life insurance when he goes on his flyball trips he goes so fast! :) He has fun and so do I and I’m glad it went so well.
