Three Days To Denmark

Jet On A Log

Okay so all Jet’s vet appointments are done for Denmark and Sweden. The USDA Federal Veterinarian said that he would need to get dewormed 24 hours before going into Sweden, if we decide to go there. So I’d have to find a vet in Denmark to do that. But that’s fine, I have some good contacts in Denmark so I’m not worried about finding a good vet if we need too. It’s so nice to already be a part of the Danish Swedish Farmdog community in Denmark and Sweden. I’m so glad I have friends there, even though I have not met them yet!

The Federal Vet wasn’t too happy when we were there, but I think she was just kinda an unhappy person. One of the ladies was really nice and wanted to say hi to Jet. He said hi a little bit, but then he gets too busy and wants to check things out and sniff and stuff so he doesn’t say hi for too long. :)

So I only have Thursday, Friday and Saturday left to go. I fear that work, tomorrow, is just going to drag by. Why is it that time compresses and slows right before a trip, and then zooms by afterward? It’s just odd.  Well, I have some work stuff to keep me busy tomorrow. And then Friday I get my nails done at noon, might go to lunch with a friend, and I need to get my contacts lenses polished. I also need to pack. Which will take me all day, and I’m sure I’ll be stressed and my husband will avoid me. But it’ll get done! And I need to stay healthy, take some multiple vitamins so that I’m strong for the trip!

Dog Water Bowls

So I’ve been reading some other blogs and people have been posting about water bowls. So I thought I would post about my favorite water bowl. I bought this one from a local vendor, though I think they sell a larger version on Clean Run (The bowl in this link is much bigger than the one I have. Mine is like this Aquabowl).

Jet and the Jug Bowl

This is my most favorite bowl and I hope I never lose it. I almost did once… that reminds me, I need to get some sort of tag for it with my name on it.

Jet Pawing the Jug Bowl

I love this bowl. It fills with water like a jug, and it has a white spout you can turn on and off for water to fill the little bowl that is part of it. And you can press with your foot to force out the water and fill the bowl. I bring this thing everywhere, and I plan on bringing it to Denmark too.Jet likes to paw at the water in the bowl… and makes a big mess. Which I think is cute. :)

Collapsible Bowl

I also bought this little bowl at Ma and Paws today. It’s a local dog bakery which also sells other things.Isn’t it cool? It’s collapsible! And I thought I could use it on the airplane for Jet on our way to and from Denmark.

Jet Eating

He seemed to like this little rubbery bowl a little too much, so I had to put some food in it so that he would eat out of it instead of carry it off…

Jet and the little bowl

Of course as soon as he was done…

Jet Grabbing the Bowl

The little bowl went right into his mouth, and he headed towards the back yard!

Off to the Yard!

I hope I can make that little rubbery bowl last a while. I think it’s going to be prime chew toy for Jet. :) But it’s cute and it fits in my purse and I think it’ll be really nice to have!

So those are my bowls that I like. ;)

Getting Ready for Denmark

Handsome Jet

Okay… the time is getting close for our trip to Denmark! Jet is entered in the World Dog Show in Herning, Denmark. It is an FCI show and they move it from country to country every year. Next year, in 2011, it will be in Paris France. Then in 2012 it will be in Austria… if I remember correctly. :)

Just got back from the vet with Jet. Taking a dog overseas isn’t easy. I have a stack of papers and I have to take them to the Federal Vet today at 1pm too. I have health certificates and rabies certificates and a rabies titer results in case we go to Sweden too. All his good. He is solid and healthy. And yes, he even has a passport. :) I have his passport and my passport in the same place.

My spare bedroom has turned into the packing room with piles of clothes and dog things. I also have a packing list in Google Docs. I am so glad I have Friday and Saturday off work to pack. Friday I have a nail appointment, and Saturday I have pretty much free all day to pack. We leave Sunday morning!

My ankle has been hurting lately, so I’m trying to stay off it and take care of it before we go. I’m sure agility and obedience didn’t help it at all. But it’s okay. I’m not in horrible pain, but I can feel it, and I don’t want to make it worse.

Anyway… people ask me if I’m excited, but I’m really just nervous! I hope it all goes well!

Still no CDX

Dorky Chase

Well, I took Chase to obedience trial this weekend. AKC. He needs only one more leg for his CDX. But dangit, now it’s being elusive. He got his two first legs boom boom. Now he’s going down on his sit stay, which is an NQ. Ugh! So frustrating! He has been doing so well at training too. Just solid. Maybe if he had some contemporary sofas to sit on he’d be more comfortable? I just don’t know.

I’ll try again in August in Idaho Falls. It’s so pretty up there and the trial site is nice and calm. And I want to get Tatum ready for Rally-O too.  Hopefully she’ll be okay in the ring. She still gets nervous but she can do it!  It’ll be fun. :) Of course I’ll have to bring Jet too. Even though he can’t do AKC trials, he’s my baby so he comes with me everywhere.  ;)

This picture is of Chase in our back yard with a weird look on his face. He can be such a dork.  ;)

Training The Contacts

Finally it’s warm enough to get out and do some training with Jet! He is such a good boy. I have an A-Frame at home and I have a teeter (it’s not balanced but oh well). And all that foundation 2o2o (2 on 2 off) training is really paying off.

The teeter was just kinda for fun, to get him on it. When I get to a real teeter we’ll work more tipping point and control and such. And I want a 4-on on the teeter. Since he’s a small dog I don’t want him being flipped off the end. Safe Agility is our goal!

I’m happy with his A-Frame too. I like how he’s rounding the top and gathering up his legs (I made it slow motion at the end of the video). And I like his 2o2o. But I think he’s stutter stepping on the way down too much. Maybe he just needs to get his stride. I would like to see videos of other small dogs doing a 2o2o on the A-Frame, anyone know of any? Since he’s my first small dog I want to get it right! ;)

Denver ASCA

Chase Goofy

Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while. Been out of town and out of sorts. I’ll try to get back into it more here.

The weekend before last I took Chase to Denver, Colorado, and we did some ASCA agility there. I was really pleased about how we ran. Chase did awesome, and I did pretty good at handling him, too, if I do say so myself. We got 2 and a half standard Qs, and two jumpers Qs. In Standard, a full Q is 10 points, and you need 30 points for a title. We got 25 points so I was really happy with that. Since we have such a hard time Qualifying I’m really happy with how we did!

In Jumpers he got his Elite Jumpers Title and an extra 10 points to boot. Now we get to work on our ATCH points in Jumpers. That’s so neat! I’m excited. We still need 5 points for the Elite Standard Title, then we can work on ATCH points for Standard too.

We didn’t do all that well in Gamblers. My timing needs improvement, but we’ll get there. Chase did great and I’m very happy with him!

It was windy and dusty and I could have used some acne facial cleanser to clear up my skin after. But it was warm which was nice for a change. Of course it’s warm here now in Salt Lake, too. And I am really ready for summer!
