Jet Needs Eye Drops

Jet in Fredericia, Denmark

Jet in Fredericia, Denmark

This picture is of Jet on a dock in Fredericia, Denmark. Isn’t he a handsome boy! Of course he is. :)

so anyway, Jet needs eye drops. Ugh. He was fussing at his right eye for a few days. It started the day after we got back from Denmark. Not sure if he picked something up there, or after we got home. Either way, my husband took him into the vet today. And he might have a viral infection in his eye so she gave us drops.

Well, Jet hates the drops. So I’m trying to convince him to let me put the drops on his face with a clicker and some pepperoni. Actually, now I’m just trying to get the darn bottle near his face. However, it’s critical that we get the drops in, because this could be contagious to the other dogs and we don’t want that. So we might have to push him a bit harder than he wants. I feel bad for the poor boy. He doesn’t understand why we have to put icky drops in his eyes. I hate eye drops too!

Also, the vet got a tick out of him under his right ear. Bleh. I thought it probably came from Denmark, but now I remember I took him to Tanner Park on Monday in the morning. So he could have gotten it there. And the vet said that it didn’t have much blood in it yet so that’s good. And Levi got a tick at Tanner once, in his foot. I wonder if ticks and acne are related… but I don’t think so.

So anyway, off to see if we can get some drops in Jet’s poor eye. Ugh. Poor baby boy!

More Pictures of Denmark

Windmills

I think for a while I’ll be posting random pictures of Denmark that I haven’t posted before. :) This picture is from a place we went to near Vejle. The guy who built these windmills built them all by hand. It was amazing. They are all small versions and they all work. Walking around them and seeing them was incredible. I don’t think I brought Jet with this time though… he rarely stayed home, but sometimes he did. :)

No POS systems here… just manual construction and workings. I’m going to put a DVD together of the pictures, and some video too. Not sure I’ll post it all on YouTube but maybe I’ll put a smaller version up! :)

The trip was awesome. I want to go back already. Though my body is starting to adjust to this time. I went to the dog park this morning… got up at 5:30 am. LOL. That is way early for me for a holiday day. So I took Jet, Levi and Tatum to the park at 7. Then I went to some agility training at 10 with Chase and Jet. Chase loved it, he hasn’t been out of the house for two weeks! He was bored.

Now everyone is happily sleeping. Jet is on my lap, making it hard to type. :)

I Can’t Believe It’s Over

Sad It's Over

Well, I’m home. And now I’m sad that my trip to Denmark is over. I had such a wonderful time. I was ready to come home and be with my family again… but at the same time, I really miss being there. The countryside is just gorgeous. It’s so green and so alive. Though I did get very tired of the humidity! I love the hot dry desert. I felt like I was sweating so much when I was there. I don’t sweat nearly as much here in the desert.

I really had fun spending the days with Jet, and exploring Denmark. I love this picture of Jet and the lion, and he stood up there without any clamps, he is like a little monkey.

The people we stayed with were so generous and so helpful. Both my distant relatives in Denmark, and Jet’s breeder in Sweden! I do tend to feel like a burden when I’m staying with someone… though. I think what would be really fun would be to rent an RV and drive around Scandinavia and Europe. I’m going to have to think about that and look into it for the World Dog Show in Austria in 2012. I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford it, but I’m going to do some budgeting and see what I can come up with.

Anyway, I’m taking it easy today and tomorrow, adjusting to the time change, and watching some TV. Home is nice, I have to admit that.

Last Day In Denmark – Copenhagen

So it’s our last day in Denmark. We took the train to Copenhagen today to see the city. It was really fun. And we were even able to buy a train ticket for Jet… actually, it would have been nice to have him on for free, lol, but at least they allow dogs on the trains. And he did really well, wasn’t even an issue for him, just like everything else this trip.

Me and Jet

Me and Jet

He made me nervous walking along the edge of this dock. I was a worried Mom, but he is so sure footed he wouldn’t fall in. I always worry he’ll fall into the sinks, or is that into the drink? LOL I forget the joke.

Copenhagen, Denmark

We saw the pretty city today and walked for six hours. We were very tired at the end. We bought some more trinkets and things to bring back to friends and family. Hopefully our suitcases will not weigh over the 50 lb weight limit. We also spent most of our Danish Crowns so we have no money left.

Jet and the Lion

Jet and the Lion

It is so completely fun traveling with a dog. Jet’s been so easy. Getting so much socialization and exposure to so many things. When he gets tired, though, he gets a little skittish around people who surprise him. But that’s to be expected, I think. Hey I get skittish around people too!

Jet Rolling

Jet Rolling In The Grass

So we go 1/3 the way around the world… and what does Jet do? He rolls in the grass like he does at home. Sniffs dogs’ buts. Plays with dogs, eats dog food, chases leaves in the wind, and does all his other doggie things he could do at home. LOL. But he did travel on planes, trains, automobiles, and a Ferry too this trip. And he doesn’t do that at home!

I think he has had a great time. Now for my last worry, getting him home on the plane tomorrow. The flight is long, and I feel bad when he can’t really get out to potty. And he’s so well house trained that he won’t potty indoors. Maybe we’ll have enough time at the JFK airport that we can run out to the pet area again. Getting back through security is the hard part.

So this is my last post from Denmark. Next post will be back in the good old USA. Though I plan on sleeping all of Sunday and Monday to recover from vacation, so I might not post for a bit! :)

Oh and here are more pictures on Facebook, everyone should be able to see them:

To Sweden Then Back To Denmark

Well, we made it to Sweden and back to Denmark! It was awesome, I’m so glad that we went. I got to see where Jet grew up, and his relatives… his Mom Anni and his brother Ewert. And all the other Stolta Ebbas Danish Swedish Farmdogs!

Jet on the Ferry

We took a Ferry from Demark to Sweden. Jet really has been a world traveler this trip. The above picture is of me and Jet on the Ferry watching the sights go by. He really seemed to want to see, too. I had to pick him up so that he could see over the railing and he just watched and watched. :)

Jet Sleeping in the Ferry

The Ferry ride was over 3 hours, so we were able to get into the lounge and sit and relax. I read my book, while Jet and Mark slept on the uncomfortable chairs. When are they going to make sleeping areas for us so that we can lay down? Airplanes and Ferry’s really need them!

Mark and Jet

It is so amazing to travel with a dog. I’ve had no problems at all. And no one has even asked to see any paperwork, even though I have a stack an inch thick. Not even in Sweden where I heard it’s hard to get everything the dog needs. I even took Jet and got him dewormed in Denmark before we went to Sweden, and it cost like $60. UGH. In the US it would maybe have cost $20, probably even less!

Jet and his Brother

The above picture is of Jet and his litter mate brother Ewert! Aren’t they cute? They actually look pretty different now. Jet is thinner and leaner and hasn’t filled out as much. Ewert is more solid. And he is so very sweet and very agile. He jumps right into your lap when you sit at the dinner table! So does Jet at home… hehe, I think it’s cute. I really wanted to bring another dog home… but I couldn’t let myself. I have to concentrate on the dogs I have now. Even though it was oh.. so tempting, I would love another Farmdog!!!

Jet is in the Middle with the Toy

Jet had a blast playing in Erika’s property. She has 5 acres and it’s all fenced so the dogs won’t run off. Well it’s fenced around the house anyway, but that itself is huge, and it has lots of fun things for the dogs to explore. But at the end of the day, Jet still wanted to be with me. He is such a loving, wonderful boy. And I’m so lucky to have him!

Tomorrow we are going to Copenhagen and tour the city. Hopefully we can bring Jet on the train as we’d rather take the train than drive. We’ll see how it goes. I should be able to post one more time tomorrow night. Then we get on the airplane and head for home on Saturday. It’ll be a long day and a short day at the same time. We leave at 2pm and get home at 11pm Salt Lake time… but we’ll be in the air for many, many hours. I hope the time goes by fast!
