Going to the DOCNA Championships!

Chase Kitchen

Well, tomorrow I’m headed off with Chase to the DOCNA Agility Championships! I’m pretty excited that he qualified this year. We’ve never been to a Championships before so I think it’ll be fun. It’s going to be in Grand Junction, Colorado, which is pretty close. It’s only 5 hours from us. And we’ll be stopping in Richfield to pick up my friend Marie and her dog Zoe. As they qualified too and we’re gonna have a fun trip! This pictures… Continue reading »

Lucy and Levi

Levi and Lucy

Well today has been a nice down day. Yesterday my sister came over and we had a garage sale. That was a ton of work. I’m glad it’s over, glad we only did it for one day. The other day when I did the photo shoot… strangely enough, I took pictures of some of our dogs other than Jet too. LOL This is Lucy and Levi, our old pair… Lucy is almost 12, and Levi will be 11 in November.… Continue reading »

Photo Shoot

Danish Swedish Farmdog

I thought it was time for a photo shot today. I actually don’t think I’ve done one in a couple of months. And that is rotten! The grass is going to turn brown soon, the snow is going to fall, and then I won’t have pretty green grass in the photos for a while. Dangit! And Jet is just so photogenic. LOL. I can’t resist taking pictures of him. I did get pictures of the other dogs too… and maybe… Continue reading »

Lucy Is Eating Well

megaesophagus dog

A few days ago I decided to take some new pictures of Lucy in her chair. She is such a good girl. She eats three or four times a day. She sits in her chair for 20 minutes after she eats each time. She’s actually our best dog to have Megesophagus… because she’s the most patient, and she puts up with the chair. I accidentally tried to put Levi’s but in the chair a while back. LOL. He was confused.… Continue reading »

Jet Digging to China

Danish Swedish Farmdog

Yup Jet is a goof. I actually think it’s good and healthy for a dog to dig. Especially Jet, since it’s in his nature and his breeding and lineage. He hasn’t done it much, so I encourage it when I find him doing it. I’m not sure what he was going after, but I think he wanted a stick that was buried under the ground. Maybe it was a root. And Chase was looking at him like he was weird….… Continue reading »

Prey Drive Vs Fight Drive

Danish Swedish Farmdog

Training for multiple dog sports is a challenge. Right now I’m going through an issue with training Jet for both Flyball and Agility. It’s not the training that concerns me, it’s the reward. Tug or Ball? First of all, there’s prey drive and there’s fight drive. Fight drive is when a dog is tugging and growling at you. Prey drive is when they are chasing something that is moving. Jet is higher in Prey than he is in Fight. Which… Continue reading »

Top Flight Premier

Chase Resting

Well, my goofy Border Collie boy, Chase, got a new U-FLI flyball title last weekend.  He reached is 9,500 points mark and now he has his Top Flight Premier Title. Woo!  This is much happier to think about than Angel, like my last post… however, thinking of Angel kinda makes me happy too, since I am so grateful she was part of my life.  Dang there’s those darn tears again.

So anyway Chase loves flyball. He even held a Stand Stay in the lanes when I had to go talk to the box loader. LOL he’s a goof. It was hard for him and I didn’t make him wait long. Flyball is Chase’s favorite sport by far. Not much thinking, just flat our running in super high drive. I don’t think he’d do very well in medical assistant school even though he’s a Border Collie and is probably smart enough for it. ;)

So flyball was fun. The weekend of the 24-27th we’ll be in Grand Junction, Colorado, for the DOCNA agility championships. That’ll be fun too. Then in October we are going to the Jumps N Jackpots Flyball Tournament held by Touch N Go. That will also be fun. No obedience for a while, much to Chase’s happiness!  ;)

Angel in 2006

Sweet Angel

Okay, and so my last post I talked a little about Angel, and so I went looking for more pictures of her. All I have left of her is pictures now… and yes, I’m crying as I type this. Not a lot… just a few tears, but I still miss her so much. She died on May 13th of this year and she’ll always be a part of my heart and soul. And I still will look around the house for her. Maybe try to feed her. Wonder where she is when I get home. And when the neighbors take out the garbage, I expect her to bark at the noise of the garbage can all the way down the driveway.

I have to remember her when she was young and healthy. I want to remember her barking, her letting me chase her around the house with a sock or anything else she could find. The silly way she would tuck up her but when I’d scritch her and chase her around. She never ran fast, so I always had to just walk behind her and say “I’m gonna get you!” and just pretend like I was chasing her. She loved it. I think it was her favorite game.

She also loved Pig Ears. They were her favorite yummy treat. She didn’t much like rawhide or bully sticks though. So we gave her the Pig Ears when we could.

She’ll always be my sweet baby girl.

And so I try to think about other things too, like it’s fall, and there’s football, and maybe a football gift would cheer me up. But then I don’t really care about much other than the dogs. They are my best friends and I love every single one of them.

Oh yeah and this picture is of Angel on a camping trip. Probably coming home from one, with her head resting on the seats of the Outback.  :)
