Jet is my Goldilocks Dog

Jet in the Snow

My first agility was Levi, and he did a great job for me. He gave me his all and we had a really great time. He’s retired now but he’s still my heart dog. He was always a bit slow and he always had weave problems… so I tried him out, and he was just a little bit too soft. Chase was my second agility dog. He also gave me his all but he is so fast that I can’t… Continue reading »

K9 Nose Work

The Family

K9 Nose Work is so stinking fun I can’t even tell you. I’ve been getting all the dogs out and putting down the boxes for them to find the treat. In class with Levi, we’ve been putting the treats in even harder places, so last night at home I was doing that too. I got out a chair, and put a treat on the chair a little bit hidden so they would find it there. I put a treat on… Continue reading »

Wintery Training

Jet and Cookies

Well it’s that time of year for sure. Snow is on the ground, and it’s wet and icky outside. So I have had to move my training indoors. Fortunately we got a lot of training in last summer. I think Jet and Tatum both have a really good handle on agility, and next year they are both going to be competing on a regular basis. I suspect that Jet will move up in the ranks faster than Tatum. But I’ll… Continue reading »

I Will Need Serious Down Time

Levi

About a week and a half ago my GYN diagnosed me with Interstitial Cystitis. Ugh… what is that, you may ask? Well it’s not too common. It’s a condition of the bladder that makes you feel like you have a UTI but you really don’t. People with IC usually have a lot of redness and swelling inside their bladders. Sometimes ulcers too. And many can have pain and pressure and just feel rotten. It’s like a bladder infection, but you… Continue reading »

Jet’s Agility Debut Planned for February 2011

Jet

So! It’s a plan! I am going to enter Jet in his first real official agility trial next February. I’m not sure what trial yet, as he may have a couple of options. Might not. We’ll see, and time will tell. I have a preference but I’m not going to reveal our plans quite yet. But I think he’s ready. He’s weaving a good solid 12 weave polls. His contacts are great, he’s got a good solid 2o2o on the… Continue reading »

Preparation And Doing

Jet

I’ve been thinking about stuff lately and some of it isn’t dog related, but I thought the concept was kinda dog related, so I’m posting about it! First off I was figuring out a knitting patten. I like to knit, but this pattern was driving me nuts. It wasn’t straight forward or easy to follow, so I had to rewrite it so that I could understand it. And it took me about 20 rows (2 patterns worth) to be able… Continue reading »

Are Rescue Dogs Grateful?

Angel and Chase

Someone mentioned to me the other day how rescue dogs always seem so grateful for their new families and homes. That they so appreciate having a great place to live, fun things to do, and a family to love them. But when I think about my rescue dogs, grateful isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. In fact, I don’t think my rescue dogs are grateful at all. First off, I think grateful is a human emotion, not a… Continue reading »

Jet’s Flyball Box

Danish-Swedish Farmdog Beach

Well I have to say that Jet’s flyball box turn is coming along really well! Putting wraps on his back feet are helping him to get those rear feet up on the box when he’s grabbing the ball. So now he’s grabbing the ball more times than he is fumbling it, and he’s also getting his rear feet up and pushing off with them. He’s starting to get a good flyball box swimmers turn! He is such a goof. He’s… Continue reading »
