Lucy’s Meatball Diet

Lucy and Jet

Well so far, so good, on the Meatball diet for Lucy. The first day, I gave her a liquid meal in the morning… her regular soaked and blended dog food. I want to make sure she gets enough water and so wanted to give her at least one liquid meal. Then the rest of the day I gave her a couple of meatball meals, and also some water mixed with gelatin. I think I still gave her too much gelatin… Continue reading »

Meatballs for Lucy

Lucy

We’ve been feeding Lucy a liquid diet for about three years now. Ever since she was diagnosed with Megaesophagus. She’s our collie girl dog and she’s been doing pretty good, keeping her weight on her and staying as healthy as we can hope for. However, she regurgitates a lot. She does so mostly at night and when we wake up there’s lots of throwup stains on the floor of the basement. She, of course, eats it again which is a… Continue reading »

Goal: AKC Agility Nationals

Jet on the Beach

I think I can do this with Jet. It might be really too early to know, since I don’t even have Jet in excellent yet. He’s not even in open yet! He’s just a novice dog and we’ve only done two trials so far in his career. But, I’m being optimistic. And I really think Jet has the potential to make it to AKC Nationals. Hopefully we’ll be invited to AKC Invitationals too, but time will tell about that. Jet… Continue reading »

Tatum Ran!

VideoInThisPost

I am so thrilled with Tatum last weekend! She ran at agility! It was the first time she actually ran at a trial. Usually she does her silly trot. Here is a video of her. I got more video, but I’m having problems getting it off the card, so I’m working on that. She only got 1 Q, in Novice Standard, but that’s okay. She kinda forgot how to weave. But I think it’s more that it’s hard for her… Continue reading »

Successful Agility Weekend

VideoInThisPost

I had such an amazing agility weekend! I entered two of the three days of agility. The other day I was doing UKC conformation. But I have to say, I love agility much more! Here is one of Jet’s runs. He is in Novice. This is his second Novice Standard run of the weekend, and his second Q in that class. I still need to work on that silly sniffing! He’d speed up on the contacts if he wasn’t so… Continue reading »

Danish-Swedish Farmdog UKC Champion

Silly Jet

Well, Jet got his third win in competition on Saturday for his UKC Championship. I am a bit concerned that a 4th place win, over five dogs, isn’t quite good enough to count as an official win in competition, but I have been told it is, so I really hope so. If so, then I think he’s the first Danish-Swedish Farmdog in the USA to get a UKC Championship. I’ll believe it for sure when I see that certificate come… Continue reading »

UKC Conformation

Danish-Swedish Farmdog Dog Show

I am attempting to get Jet a UKC Conformation Championship. This isn’t really easy, because Danish-Swedish Farmdogs are so rare in the USA, most of the UKC judges have never seen one before. So they have to go soley on the written standard that is provided by the United Kennel Club. Personally, I’m not convinced the written standards are really all that exact, or can be interpreted by judges in a total or complete way. But then I’m not really… Continue reading »

Jet’s First Agility Trial A Success!

VideoInThisPost

I am thrilled! Jet did awesome in the ASCA agility trial over the weekend. Wow! He definitely lacks some skills for the upper levels, like serpentines, Distance, Discriminations, and his rear crosses are not strong. But over all, he did fabulous. On Saturday he got 3 Qs. Two Standard and One Jumpers. On Sunday he got 3 Qs again, One Standard and Two Jumpers. Here’s one of his videos… this is the last jumpers run on Sunday. So he’s tired… Continue reading »
