Do Dogs Think Words?

Jet Thinking

I’ve been wondering lately if my dogs can think words. Surely they can think sounds. I mean, making sounds to ones-self is a pretty basic ability. I don’t see why other animals can’t do the same thing. Maybe they can’t, I guess we probably will never know, but I like to assume that animals can think sounds to themsleves just like humans can. There are, actually, very few abilities that are exclusively human. Many other animals share things that humans… Continue reading »

Danish Swedish Farmdog Club of America

Danish-Swedish Farmdog

My experience with the Danish-Swedish Farmdog Club of America (DSFCA) has been, for the most part, negative. I just want to post about my experiences so anyone else thinking of joining can see my point of view. Back in January of 2009 I was looking for a Farmdog to buy. The first place I found on Google was the DSFCA. However, only one member of the DSFCA would even talk to me. And she told me that she would never… Continue reading »

Sick and Stuck at Home

Blue Sky

When I get sick I feel guilty. The dogs don’t get to go out, and I know they really want to go out an train and work and play. We have agility training and flyball practice scheduled today but I really can’t do either. This picture reminds me that I’m not always sick. When I get sick, I feel like I’ve always been sick, and I always will be sick. Bleh! I’m feeling guilty that I can’t get out today… Continue reading »

I’m Running Out of Socks

Jet at the Park

You know how expensive dog toys are? They are outrageously expensive. If you buy a regular old dog toy at Petco you can be spending from $5 to $8 just for one toy. And how long do they last? Um… not long in our house. In fact, the dogs got a toy for Christmas the they shredded it within hours. And it was a $8 toy! So we double socks as dog toys. The drawback of this is that I… Continue reading »

Treadmills are for Mice

walk

I was watching Bones the other day and Sweets was on the Treadmill, and Seeley comes up to him and says “Treadmills are for Mice.” Well maybe it was for rats. LOL. But anyway… I have to agree. I go by all the people in the gyms and I just can’t help thinking what a waste of time I think it is. No offense to anyone personally! I just think that there are so many more productive things to do… Continue reading »

I Will Need Serious Down Time

Levi

About a week and a half ago my GYN diagnosed me with Interstitial Cystitis. Ugh… what is that, you may ask? Well it’s not too common. It’s a condition of the bladder that makes you feel like you have a UTI but you really don’t. People with IC usually have a lot of redness and swelling inside their bladders. Sometimes ulcers too. And many can have pain and pressure and just feel rotten. It’s like a bladder infection, but you… Continue reading »

Getting Boy Things for Christmas

Danish-Swedish Farmdog Beach

So now I have to think about what to get my husband for Christmas. Not only him, but the dogs too. Usually I get the girl dogs and the boy dogs the same things… usually, I don’t get the dogs anything really special. Maybe some extra bones. Or a toy… buy toys are usually for training, or else they end up out in the back yard on their own. Where we have to gather them up every so often, throw… Continue reading »

Big Snow Storm

Jet and Tatum in the Snow

Well we finally got that big snow storm. It was not ‘that’ big snow storm that was predicted.. this one came almost a week later. LOL. Utah is so hard to predict. They usually get things wrong. This one happened on the weekend, which was nice. Less traffic. Most of it came down last Sunday. I went to Levi’s K9 Nose Work Class, then flyball practice. I took the Subaru Outback though, not the minivan. The Outback has AWD and… Continue reading »
