Don’t Lose your Dog!

We all fear the day when…. if…? hopefully the day that never comes, that our pets get out and we can’t find them. And no matter how vigilant we are, it can happen to anyone. Just a week or so ago Muffit found a loose board in our fence and was out… and since he still doesn’t know us well, he wouldn’t come to my husband. Fortunately my Husband lifted up the loose board and Muffit went back into our yard.

I hate thinking of a lost dog that isn’t able to find his home. There is a website, FindToto.com, that considers itself the Amber alert for pets. So even if you have picked up a found dog and brought him to your home, you can contact these guys and they can help you find his home, and if you lose a dog, or a cat, they will help you find your own lost pets.

These guys contact your neighborhood by phone! They are a great site… you might want to check them out. Though, knock on wood, none of our animals are ever going to get out. And we have really good recalls on them anyway, right! At least the dogs.. not sure if you can get a recall on a cat. ;)

Seeds

Well personally I’m not a cannabis smoker, but I’ve heard it can help medical problems and pain a great deal. And since I like to post about controversial subjects… this is a good one eh! Personally I think it should be legalized. Anything can be abused, look at alcohol, and it’s legal.

So it’s interesting to know that Feminized Seeds are available… and in three languages online, too. From what I’ve read, male seeds do not grow any seeds and therefore cannot be smoked.

So if you are looking for Feminisierte Samen, or Graines Féminisées, you can find them online for order.

Though of course I don’t give any to my dogs… and I don’t smoke myself. I tried once, it just hurt. LOL. Was too hot. But for medical purposes, and if it works, more power to people who use it, I say!

Metal Dogs

Much of the agility equipment used in a competition nowadays is made from Metal. Welded, I think. We used to have a person who made it locally, some great equipment, but I think she is no longer making it. I want to buy a nice fold up weave poll base but she is no longer making them. My PVC weaves are just breaking up and really need to be replaced, they are about four years old now.

Another source of metal working and manipulation is rollform equipment. Very interesting how they roll out metal products. It’s an amazing industry and very interesting.

Maybe rollforming can be used for agility equipment! Though I think the metal forming process is, actually, a lot bigger than the small agility equipment we use in our trials. :)

Travel and Pet Insurance

I travel with the dogs a lot. Most of the time I seem to drive myself with the dogs, but lately I’ve been travelling a lot with other people as well. And sometimes, as much as I even hate the thought, I know that it’s possible for one of the dogs to get hurt.

My husband and I have considered getting pet insurance for our dogs but we haven’t yet. It seems very complicated and expensive. Especially since we have the six dogs now.

There is a site through Money.co.uk that makes finding pet insurance much easier. And they also give you a took to compare credit cards, too. But their Pet Insurance page is very helpful.

You can select a number of different pet insurances and compare them against each other in order to find the best one for you and your animal family. The online form gives a great deal of information, including provider type, whether they offer an online discount, cost quotes, claims information, and more. When I look at all the different types of things the site compares, I keep scrolling down on the page because there is a lot, and it can really help out in deciding which pet insurance company is best for us.

So if you are interested in finding a good pet insurance, and you want to be able to see your choices, you might want to check out Money.co.uk.

Got Hurt Doing Agility?

I haven’t blogged about my sprained ankle in a while.. I sprained it last year, and made it worse back in October 2007 at an agility trial. It was so bad I couldn’t walk on it for a couple of days. No, interestingly enough, my husband has a sprained ankle, he did it when we were camping. Ugh! And it’s nasty swollen, I hope it goes down soon.

Agility can be considered a contact sport sometimes, and humans and dogs alike can get hurt. Though I’d rather it be me hurt than my dogs, of course. But either way, sometimes we need Wound Care to patch ourselves up!

DHPHomeDelivery.com provides the superior quality and customer care that we all need if we are hurt and need to be patched up!

Agility Makes me Burn

Sunscreen Hehe, I have to laugh at my own title. :) Well, it’s true, when I’m out in the sun at agility trials my face tends to sunburn. So do my hands, arms, and the part in my hair. I guess I need a shampoo that contains sunscreen for my hair, does one exist? Guess I should look it up. I usually just wear a baseball cap.

If I put regular sunscreen on my face and I sweat, it runs into my eyes. It’s awful. Not only because I wear contacts, but it just stings even if my contacts are out. So I need special facial sunscreen that won’t melt with my sweat and run into my eyes.

Looks like Screen, Inc. has some great new sunscreen’s I’m going to check out, and they concentrate on the face. And they are natural and safe. Perfect for agility! I hate sunburns. I want to keep my skin as young and healthy as possible!

Answering Services for the Dogs

I have been known to do the occasional collie rescue here in Utah. I do love the collies, and have four of my own. All smoothies. And when I was more involved in rescue, I thought it’d be great to have an Answering Service that would help take calls for when people call and they are interested in adopting a collie or two. :)

Answering Services can come in super handy. There are some that work with rescues, and if you have multiple people doing rescue in your group, they can all access the messages and make call backs when people call in. There are costs involved, though, so the rescues would need the time and service donated in order for it to really be affordable.

MAP Communications provides a great answering service, and can help out in lots of ways. I don’t know if they work with rescues, but maybe they do. I should go and check it out. Because it just never hurts to ask!

Computer Forensics for Dogs?

As you know by my prior post about Loving another Species, you’ll know I hold the life of a dog in as high a regard as the life as a human. It’s pretty sad that most of the world does not… yet. When I watch cop shows, the ones that deal a lot with forensic science, and they have a dog they unearth or which has been killed, I tend to wonder why on earth the cops don’t pursue the death or murder of that dog as vehemently as they do they human? Perhaps someday they will. I can only hope.

Computer Forensics is very interesting to me. Not only because it’s computers, and not only because it’s forensics. I’m fascinated by forensics, and I love computers, so putting the two together is just pretty darn cool.

How computer forensic processes work really fascinates me… hrm, I wonder if I could get a part time job in the field when I retire? Would be fun. Though maybe I could apply it to dogs. Unfortunately dogs are not so highly regarded in life, yet. However, more and more torturing and killing a dog, or any pet, is becominning a felony across the US, and that is absolutely wonderful. It’s a start, anyway.
