Calm Today

Today is my last full day before leaving for Dog Camp! Yay! I am so excited. I’m also going to go to the airport tomorrow morning and meet the people from Houston and the four collies that are coming in. It’s early, so it should work out just fine. I won’t be able to transport them with the car packed and Chase and Levi with me, but I will be there, and that, alone, is making me feel much more calm.

Today is going by very slowly. I have no desire to work (don’t tell the boss). ;) I’m going to go out for lunch. I have some small things yet to pack tonight, and then the car will be completely ready for the morning.

I am already in vacation mode!

Plugging Along

I am highly stressed about going to camp and getting these four collies in from Houston at the same time. But logically things are really coming together well. I just need to know exactly what time the jet is landing, then I can notify all my people (wow, I have people! lol) when they need to be to the airport.

I have directions of exactly where to go. It’s not the big airport, which is nice… no security checks or anything. It’s a landing site off the big airport. So shouldn’t be too hard to get too.

And camp will be very relaxing for me and the boys. Well, for me anyway. I hope the boys get a lot of exercise! We won’t be staying at the Venetian hotel, but our cabins will be cozy and comfy. I’m bringing more stuff this year than last, and I must have packed better because my car has more room this year. Go figure!

Almost Done Packing

Okay… Saturday I took a break and was a bum all day. :) Yesterday (Sunday) I went to the laundry and washed a dog bed and a huge comforter that is too big for our machines, so I can take the comforter to camp with me. I have my packing list, and I’m getting it all ready. My car is 80% packed. I only have left the things I can’t do until the last minute, and don’t want to leave in my hot car. Like my camcorder and camera, and the dog’s food. Since I feed raw I bought some patties that are frozen and I want them to stay that way as long as possible.

The car shouldn’t need any body shop supplies as it’s in good shape, I got it cleaned and an oil change.

I have x-pens, crates, my trolley, and clothes all packed! I haven’t had much time for blogging this weekend, as you can see.

Anyway, I’m excited. The house is almost ready, also, for the maid service to come on Wednesday. Oh crap! I just remembered my husband and I were going to go to my Dad’s today to set up his wireless… well, I was going to get into my PJs but not yet!

Things To Do Before Camp

OH MY GOSH! Camp is only one week away. One week from today (Saturday) I’ll be on the road for camp.

I have to clean the house, because a friend from Colorado and a friend from Richfield are coming Friday night to stay. Fortunately the maids are coming Wednesday so hopefully the house will be semi-decent. We will have 10 dogs here that night. Our four, our two fosters, and they each have two they are bringing to camp. It’s going to be a packed house.

I have to get stuff ready for Jessi to go to her new home. Hopefully she will still be going. I never know until it’s done. Anyway I want a toy to go with her, a couple of clickers, a couple of bully sticks, and a package of jerky treats. I don’t usually send so much with a new adoption but since she’s going to a really good friend I thought it would be a nice thing to do.

I have to go shopping and buy meat mixes for the boys to eat. Since I feed raw it’ll be mostly frozen, and I’ll probably have to go shopping half way through like I did last year, too.

I have to get my clothes washed, which is in progress. I have 3 big blankets washed and one has to go to the laundry mat because it’s too big to fit into our washing machine. Fortunately they have wireless at the laundry so I can blog while I’m waiting. LOL.

I have to go buy some other things too. I wrote them all down on my list. I packed some today, x-pens, crates, chair, trolley (last year it was a pain to make 5 trips to the cabin from my car)… I will pack clothes after it’s all washed.

I am more nervous this year about camp than I was last year. It’s an awesome camp and I’m excited to be going! Check them out… Camp Winnaribbun in Tahoe, Nevada!

Arranging Transport for Collies

Okay so… looks like we are planning to get three collies from Houston, Texas, on September 1st. They are going to be flown into Aspen, Colorado. So I just need to find out how to get them from there, to here.

Of course September 1st is the day I leave to dog camp! Ugh! But… the collie rescue network is awesome, and the rescue network in general. I have one good option now, a sheltie rescue in Grand Junction, Colorado can pick the dogs up from Aspen and hold them in Grand Junction if needed until I can get to them.

I’m trying to arrange transport for them all the way to Salt Lake and get into some temporary homes until I get back. I have one temporary home for sure for a week, a potential foster home, and then I can probably have the other boarded if I need to until I come back.

If I can’t get transportation from Grand Junction, then after I get home on the 8th of September from camp, I’ll be taking off on the 9th of September to Grand Junction to get them. Probably with my Mom since she has friends there. And then back the next day. I really don’t want to do that drive since I’ll be driven out from going to Tahoe and back for camp, but if I have to I will.

Anyway, I’m nervous about the whole thing, and I don’t like doing this blind and not being there to get the dogs. But no one can do rescue alone, we all need help, and so that is what I am getting, a ton of help!

Count Down To Camp

Eeek! Just over two weeks to camp. Only two weekends left. I will start washing clothes and packing this weekend, and see if any of the weather guessers have an idea what the weather will be like.

I have to get fecals on the boys, too, dangit. So maybe I can do that Monday, if I remember. I have my list from last year so that should be everything, well mostly, that I need. I have two friends staying here the night before, so we’ll be up to 10 dogs that night. Fun!

At camp I don’t think I’ll be wearing any sexy lingerie, but maybe I’ll get some to bring home to the husband!

17 Days to Camp!

Argh!!! Only 17 days left! Man, time sure flies. I have to pack, but I can’t pack up the car until after Jessi gets spayed and Lucy gets her tooth extracted, next Monday. Because I’ll be on my way to a training class too, so will have to have four dogs in the car with me. It will be packed.

And I have to get all my clothes together and find my camping list. And crap, looks like they do want a fecal on the boys. So I have to get them into the vet, too. Too much to do! I’m going to campw in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, can’t wait!

Lucy is doing well. The vet thought it was a bug bite and then rethought and thought it was a bad tooth. So she’s on antibiotics for a week and will have the tooth out next Monday. Poor girl, she is turning into a Bull Terrier like Spuds.

Oh but hey, the web cam should be working today!

Collars

Do your dogs wear collars on a daily basis? If so, what kind? When I was a dumb kid I had Kip in a metal choke all the time. I didn’t know they could be dangerous. When I found that out, when he was probably about 10 or so, I put him in a buckle collar.

Angel wears a martingale because she can slip a collar very easy. Lucy wears a really super pretty buckle collar that Jen made.. I need a picture of it. Chase wears his buckle collar from dog camp, and Levi doesn’t usually wear a collar. Because, we’ll, he’s so handsome I hate to give him a collar line. He has one from dog camp, too, though.

Lucy and Angel have tags. Chase and Levi don’t, because I do so much agility with them and tags are not allowed that they are not on their collars.

What type of collars do your dogs wear?
