Happy Third Birthday Jet!

Jet's Third Birthday!

Jet's Third Birthday!

Happy Third Birthday Jet! I can’t believe he is 3 already. Wow how time flies. He’s a good boy, and this is a picture of him with his Birthday Pizza. All the dogs love their birthday pizzas when they get them.

Next week Tatum gets one as her made-up birthday is May 1st.

For now, Jet gets to enjoy his.. well, all the dogs do, since it’s a big pizza and Jet would burst if he ate it all!

Denise Fenzi’s Awesome Obedience Seminar

Jet and Dare

I’m back from Colorado Springs and the Denise Fenzi Seminar. Wow. I got a ton of information and was able to video some of Jet working, too. Jet was a good boy. Silly goof that he is, he’s a clown, and people can’t help just loving him. I just adore him too. Denise is one of the very few purely positive, motivational competition obedience trainers in the entire country. As a few of us sat around at dinner, we came… Continue reading »

Going to Denise Fenzi

Jet Running

So this coming weekend I have another seminar. It’s in Colorado Springs, which is about a 10 hour drive from me. Jet has a working slot in a Denise Fenzi obedience seminar. I’ve been looking forward to this for months. I really hope we can learn some good things. I really love Denise’s blog and I’ve been reading it for a while now. And I need something to pick me up, as I’m still pretty down from Levi dying. I’ll… Continue reading »

Levi’s Gone

My life has been torn asunder. We put Levi down last Thursday morning at 1:30 am. February 23, 2012. I’m only now able to kinda blog about it. He was my heart dog, my heart and soul, I miss him terribly. Last week he had a bully stick, then diarrhea, and I don’t know if that was why, but he stopped being abel to walk. My husband says it wasn’t my fault, but I don’t know. After a few days he kept going downhill. Wednesday night he was in pain, and at 1:30 in the morning he’d shake and whine, and I couldn’t let it go on. So we took him to the emergency vet and they put him down.

I did agility last weekend, which was good therapy, and Jet got his MXJ and Qualified in every run. He is such a good boy and we had a lot of fun. I made a ton of people cry over Levi, but they all understand. They understand the bond we have with our dogs. I’m very sad, and hopefully I’ll be able to go a whole day, sometime soon, without crying. But it may be a while.

Going to Chris Zink

Well tomorrow I’m off for a trip to Grand Junction, Colorado for a Chris Zink Seminar. I’ve heard lots of great things about her seminars so I’m looking forward to it. I have a working spot with Jet, we’ll see what she thinks about him. I’m not really feel very good today, a bit of a bladder flare, but I’m taking it easy and almost all packed up. Maybe some cedar furniture will be available in the hotel where I can relax! And fortunately it’s a mostly sit down type seminar… dang I better remember a pen. I always forget a pen!

Hopefully I’ll blog about it when I get back. I won’t have to be on my feet all weekend which, I think, will be a good thing.

Pictures from the Park

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Just some fun pictures from when we went to the dog park last weekend. I love the park after a fresh snow, when the sky is perfectly blue. I love that color of blue. Only Tatum and Jet went. I’m still not taking Levi. I don’t know, his park days may be over… we’ll see. But every day he seems a little bit worse. His poor old body just can’t repair itself anymore. Makes me very, very sad. Why not… Continue reading »

Going for Non-Reg Obedience

Playing in the Snow

Well, I’m going to do it. We have a three day AKC obedience trial the end of March. I’m not going to do all three days, since I have to work Friday, and I’m taking off most of that week already for a Denise Fenzi seminar in Colorado Springs. But anyway… my obedience instructor reminded me of the new non-reg obedience classes, especially Graduate Open. And so… I entered Chase on Saturday and Sunday. I’m nervous! It’s all like Utility… Continue reading »

Cyber Rally-O

So this is pretty cool… Cyber Rally! I know there is also Cyber Agility, but I have not done it. I don’t really have a good place to set up an agility course, and I’m lazy, but Rally, now that’s something I can do.

I registered up Jet, Tatum and Chase with Cyber Rally-O, you can check out their website: Cyber Rally-O Website. And they also have a Yahoo Group that I’ve joined, though I’ve gone Digest because I don’t keep up well with email lists.

The above video is Jet’s first Q. Woot! Three Qs for a title. I’ll need to pick some other courses and get them done, too. There are a couple of indoor training places here that I can rent and set them up. Nutshell: you set up the course and video and submit the entry. They tell you if you Q or not.

Some people may poo-poo it, saying well you can use treats and practice as much as you want before hand. But really, so what? I’ve always wanted do overs. :) And you still have to train everything first anyway. The dogs have to know how to heel and do all the exercises. You can’t lure them through with treats (that’s an NQ). And yes you can treat in stationary exercises. And if you have a reactive or shy dog that doesn’t do well at trials, this is awesome. Like I said, you still have to train for it, so I think it’s pretty cool.
