More Dog Beach Pics

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Yeah, more beach pictures. Can you even get enough of beach pictures in November in Utah? LOL… not I! I have all these pictures of Jet on the beach as my screen saver on my Mac. So it just cycles through them all day long when I’m at work so I can watch, and they cheer me up. They are not a good sleeping aid, though. But maybe if I stared long enough I could get mesmerized… Most of the… Continue reading »

Danish-Swedish Farmdog Specialty 2010

Me and Jet

So Saturday Jet and I went to the Danish-Swedish Farmdog National Specialty in Claremont, California. Since the DSF is not an AKC recognized breed, the specialty is held in conjunction with an American Rare Breed Association (ARBA) show. The DSFCA flew in a Danish Judge to judge the Farmdogs for their show. I went last year… and Jet won Best In Show puppy last year. I was proud of him. He was too young to get any points though. As… Continue reading »

Huntington Dog Beach

Jet at Dog Beach

I don’t think I even posted about it… but… we went to California last weekend! It was a blast. I took Jet, and we went on an airplane. We were going for the Danish-Swedish Farmdog National Specialty, and to visit my cousin, though we didn’t get to visit much. Friday after we landed I took Jet to Huntington Dog Beach. It was amazingly fun. I was worried that Jet wouldn’t be able to hear me over the waves… he’s been… Continue reading »

I Can’t Believe It’s Over

Sad It's Over

Well, I’m home. And now I’m sad that my trip to Denmark is over. I had such a wonderful time. I was ready to come home and be with my family again… but at the same time, I really miss being there. The countryside is just gorgeous. It’s so green and so alive. Though I did get very tired of the humidity! I love the hot dry desert. I felt like I was sweating so much when I was there. I don’t sweat nearly as much here in the desert.

I really had fun spending the days with Jet, and exploring Denmark. I love this picture of Jet and the lion, and he stood up there without any clamps, he is like a little monkey.

The people we stayed with were so generous and so helpful. Both my distant relatives in Denmark, and Jet’s breeder in Sweden! I do tend to feel like a burden when I’m staying with someone… though. I think what would be really fun would be to rent an RV and drive around Scandinavia and Europe. I’m going to have to think about that and look into it for the World Dog Show in Austria in 2012. I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford it, but I’m going to do some budgeting and see what I can come up with.

Anyway, I’m taking it easy today and tomorrow, adjusting to the time change, and watching some TV. Home is nice, I have to admit that.

Last Day In Denmark – Copenhagen

So it’s our last day in Denmark. We took the train to Copenhagen today to see the city. It was really fun. And we were even able to buy a train ticket for Jet… actually, it would have been nice to have him on for free, lol, but at least they allow dogs on the trains. And he did really well, wasn’t even an issue for him, just like everything else this trip.

Me and Jet

Me and Jet

He made me nervous walking along the edge of this dock. I was a worried Mom, but he is so sure footed he wouldn’t fall in. I always worry he’ll fall into the sinks, or is that into the drink? LOL I forget the joke.

Copenhagen, Denmark

We saw the pretty city today and walked for six hours. We were very tired at the end. We bought some more trinkets and things to bring back to friends and family. Hopefully our suitcases will not weigh over the 50 lb weight limit. We also spent most of our Danish Crowns so we have no money left.

Jet and the Lion

Jet and the Lion

It is so completely fun traveling with a dog. Jet’s been so easy. Getting so much socialization and exposure to so many things. When he gets tired, though, he gets a little skittish around people who surprise him. But that’s to be expected, I think. Hey I get skittish around people too!

Jet Rolling

Jet Rolling In The Grass

So we go 1/3 the way around the world… and what does Jet do? He rolls in the grass like he does at home. Sniffs dogs’ buts. Plays with dogs, eats dog food, chases leaves in the wind, and does all his other doggie things he could do at home. LOL. But he did travel on planes, trains, automobiles, and a Ferry too this trip. And he doesn’t do that at home!

I think he has had a great time. Now for my last worry, getting him home on the plane tomorrow. The flight is long, and I feel bad when he can’t really get out to potty. And he’s so well house trained that he won’t potty indoors. Maybe we’ll have enough time at the JFK airport that we can run out to the pet area again. Getting back through security is the hard part.

So this is my last post from Denmark. Next post will be back in the good old USA. Though I plan on sleeping all of Sunday and Monday to recover from vacation, so I might not post for a bit! :)

Oh and here are more pictures on Facebook, everyone should be able to see them:

To Sweden Then Back To Denmark

Well, we made it to Sweden and back to Denmark! It was awesome, I’m so glad that we went. I got to see where Jet grew up, and his relatives… his Mom Anni and his brother Ewert. And all the other Stolta Ebbas Danish Swedish Farmdogs!

Jet on the Ferry

We took a Ferry from Demark to Sweden. Jet really has been a world traveler this trip. The above picture is of me and Jet on the Ferry watching the sights go by. He really seemed to want to see, too. I had to pick him up so that he could see over the railing and he just watched and watched. :)

Jet Sleeping in the Ferry

The Ferry ride was over 3 hours, so we were able to get into the lounge and sit and relax. I read my book, while Jet and Mark slept on the uncomfortable chairs. When are they going to make sleeping areas for us so that we can lay down? Airplanes and Ferry’s really need them!

Mark and Jet

It is so amazing to travel with a dog. I’ve had no problems at all. And no one has even asked to see any paperwork, even though I have a stack an inch thick. Not even in Sweden where I heard it’s hard to get everything the dog needs. I even took Jet and got him dewormed in Denmark before we went to Sweden, and it cost like $60. UGH. In the US it would maybe have cost $20, probably even less!

Jet and his Brother

The above picture is of Jet and his litter mate brother Ewert! Aren’t they cute? They actually look pretty different now. Jet is thinner and leaner and hasn’t filled out as much. Ewert is more solid. And he is so very sweet and very agile. He jumps right into your lap when you sit at the dinner table! So does Jet at home… hehe, I think it’s cute. I really wanted to bring another dog home… but I couldn’t let myself. I have to concentrate on the dogs I have now. Even though it was oh.. so tempting, I would love another Farmdog!!!

Jet is in the Middle with the Toy

Jet had a blast playing in Erika’s property. She has 5 acres and it’s all fenced so the dogs won’t run off. Well it’s fenced around the house anyway, but that itself is huge, and it has lots of fun things for the dogs to explore. But at the end of the day, Jet still wanted to be with me. He is such a loving, wonderful boy. And I’m so lucky to have him!

Tomorrow we are going to Copenhagen and tour the city. Hopefully we can bring Jet on the train as we’d rather take the train than drive. We’ll see how it goes. I should be able to post one more time tomorrow night. Then we get on the airplane and head for home on Saturday. It’ll be a long day and a short day at the same time. We leave at 2pm and get home at 11pm Salt Lake time… but we’ll be in the air for many, many hours. I hope the time goes by fast!

Jet Likes The Beach

Well the dog show is over. It was a lot of fun. A bit stressful, like all shows are, so in a way I’m glad that it’s over. I’m so glad I came, though. I’ve had a wonderful time this trip. Probably one of the best vacations I’ve ever taken. And being able to have my dog with me nearly everywhere I go… how can things get better than that?

Jet on a Blanket

Yesterday we went and visited my Dad’s cousin’s grave. Her name was Sinne and she just died last year. It’s sad to see her grave, but I’m glad I met her back in 1982. I should post a picture of back then. Though my hair was awful… LOL. Oh well, I was 13 and didn’t know how to do hair.

Jet Rolling

That afternoon we drove to Odder and spent some time with Kim and his kids. He has been our wonderful tour guide most of this trip, and we have stayed with his parents in their home. They have been feeding us wonderful meals every day, taking care of us, translating for us, and doing more than we could ever have imagined. I don’t think we can ever express how thankful we are for them to have opened their homes and their hearts to us while we stayed here.

Jet In The Water

Jet is very tired now, and he’ll probably need a week of sleep at home once we get back there. Me too, and Mark too. We are not used to being so active. And it’s been pretty hot and humid too.

Jet Sleeping

Tomorrow we are going to take the Ferry from Frederikshavn, Denmark to Gothenburg, Sweden. Then we are going to drive to Jet’s Breeder’s place and see all his family and her other dogs! I am excited about that! We are only going to spend one night there, then Thursday we are driving back to Copenhagen. We’ll stay in Køge Thursday and Friday night, then we fly home on Saturday. I don’t know if I’ll have internet again until we get back in Køge. We’ll see.

The Beach by Odder, Denmark

So until then, have a good few days and I’ll try to blog when we get back to Køge! :)

Oh and here are some more pictures that I posted on Facebook:

Jet Won A Blue Ribbon At The World Dog Show!

The World Dog Show 2010

The World Dog Show was really fun. :) Here are some pictures, they are on Facebook but anyone should be able to see them. I’ll load up more pictures, and videos, when I get home.

Pictures on Facebook

And yes.. Jet did get a blue ribbon! LOL but it Denmark blue isn’t first place. There are various ratings, Excellent, Very Good, Good, and Satisfactory. The blue is for Good. So he did better with this judge then last Friday. But he’s still young, like I said, and he will grow into his Farmdog-ness in a year or two. I’m not worried. I love him just the way he is!

A very cool thing is that Jet’s littermate got an Excellent rating and even placed in this class! He got 3rd place! That’s so awesome! It’s not an easy thing to place with so many dogs.

And Caesar, another of the Stolta Ebbas dogs, who is 2 years old and was in Open Dogs, he got 2nd place in his class! His mother is Jet’s grandmother… I believe, though I’ll have to double check that later. 2nd place in The World Dog Show is a HUGE deal so we were all thrilled and excited!

It was a fun day. I bought a lot of t-shirts for friends… and some things for Jet and some various and sundry other things. It was a lot of fun, I had a blast. :) I’m so glad that I came!
