It is sad, but true. Our sweet girl Angel who we adopted in March of 2002 is really slowing down. We didn’t know how old she was then, and we still don’t know how old she is now. For a while we were guessing she was about 8, and for many years she seemed to just stay 8, so I was hoping she would just always be 8 forever. But now that is not going to happen. 🙁
She is probably about 11 or 12 now, we are thinking. She still plays with Tatum and Chase, but she lays down a lot, is having a harder time going up and down the stairs, and likes to stay out in the cold more. Which is kinda odd.
It doesn’t matter how old she is. She came into our lives skinny and with a broken leg. She is now fat and happy (not really fat lol) and has warm beds to sleep on and fun walks to go on, and she spent many a night in our canvas tent on camping trips. But still.. I hope she has many years left with us.
It is so incredibly sad to watch our pets age. My old boy, Rocco, has been slowing down a lot lately. The last couple of weeks he has developed a pronounced limp and has a problem getting up off the floor. He won’t jump on anything anymore and he hesitates before the stairs (there’s only 3 of them). He’s 12 1/2 and I fear he’s nearing the end times. This is no fun at all 🙁
My friend at work left early to put her hound dog, asleep today. She was ballin’ when she left. I never met her pooch but I almost started crying too! On a good note, we got Angel a Xmas present already (last week) its under our tree 🙂

Slowing down isn’t always a bad thing – Angel is just taking her time and enjoying life in smaller increments at a time now. I would take being fat, happy and a little older any day over being young and skinny any day 😉

It’s true slowing down isn’t always bad… I wish our adopted doggie, Dixie, would slow down a bit. She is to energetic for us sometimes…
Enjoy your baby and her calm times, she must be very content and pleased in your home!

Hi Flo, poor Rocco… it is so hard when they get older.
Hi Chris, that is so sad. I cry too.. if I go to the vet and someone is crying, i can’t help crying too.
Hi Perros. Yeah.. i sure am glad I’m not a kid anymore!
Hi Talina! Our youngest, Tatum, should get together with your Dixie!

Oh…such beautiful dogs you have. My 3 shelties Bonnie, Carrie and Ginger are 9, 10 & 11 yrs old so I treasure every minute I have with them. I know how you feel about Angel and all of your sweet “kids”!
