Angel’s Green Ball…?

PA133104 We have a bunch of.. well, tomatoes left over. They didn’t all turn red before picking time, and since it froze last weekend we wanted to try to salvage them for later. I do love my tomatoes!

PA133102 We have them laid out in our spare bedroom so they will ripen. And Angel just thought that was the coolest thing, a whole scattering of green toys!

She loves to steal things and get chased. She’s our only dog we do this with. We don’t play ‘chase the puppy’ with any of the other dogs, because it can be so rewarding to them that they don’t want to come!

Anyway, if you look closely you’ll see that Angel’s green ball isn’t, actually, a green ball, but a green tomato. She was so excited to get it that I just couldn’t take it away from her. So I chased her around the house and out the dog door a few times. I love when she gets happy being chased! She gets all goofy and squiggly. And I have to make sure I run slowly, acting like I run fast, so I don’t actually catch her. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Love it! Have to laugh because I looked in to see Raven playing with a “red toy” this afternoon. It turned out to be one of the apples that we just picked off our friends tree this morning. I left the bucket of apples down low enough for the dogs to get into and Raven was helping herself. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Green tomatoes for toys – what a riot! We had pumpkins out on our deck one year for decoration and I came outside to see that there was a large piece eaten away. There was my sheltie Ginger looking very proud of herself! I’ve got that picture somewhere and will have to find it and post it. Aren’t they just too cute!

  3. Angel would love to come see all the walnut balls at my yard. Maybe I need Diane’s dogs to come play “recycle” at my place!

  4. How cute!! Dogs are so fun when playing chase! I used to love to hide behind doors and spring out to suprise my Choc Lab…she would leap in the air and then the game was ON!

We had a huge pile of green tomatoes too but they were the little bell shaped ones…we made Green Tomato Chutney to have with some Indian style dinners this winter. MMMMMmmmmm!
