February 2005

Life goes on, eh? 🙂 Things are good. I’m running 3.5 miles now regularly… or mostly regularly. Sometimes I’ll go the 2.93 mile route, if it’s a particularly hard run, but usually it’s 3.5 miles. Which is more than a 5k, so I can probalby do a 5k in April. Though I hope I’m not nasty slow.

It is cold… was 12F this morning. Ugh. Not fun at all. I want spring to come, I’m buying brightly colored clothes because I’m tired of the dull drab weather and snow. It snowed a lot yesterday, today is sunny but freezing cold.

Agility is fun. Haven’t had a trial since Jan but there will be another one on the 19th of this month. That’ll mark the first trial I ever went to last year. 🙂 I’m excited. 1 Year and we are in open, I think that’s awesome!

Clicker training the dogs is a riot. Been working on getting them to go backwards. All of them but Lucy has it down pat. 😀 Lucy, however, gets too frantic about the treats and is having a hard time moving backward for me to mark her with the clicker. We’ll get it, though! I think Chase needs to learn to roll over. 😀

Running Again

I was sick around New Years. The entire holiday I didn’t even leave the house. Felt guilty about not taking the dogs to the park, but they survived. 🙂

Yesterday I felt a lot better, finally. Went running again. I have skipped two weeks. Ugh. And I can feel it today. Was really hard for me to fall asleep last night. Usually is after I start or stop excersising. But, I know my body will adjust quickly and I’ll be back at it full again. I only went 2.93 miles, not the full 3.5. Hopefully I can do 3.5 again Thursday.

I only took Levi. Chase still needs LLW manners, and I think it might be a while for him. The world is so fascinating.

I also went to agility class. The old teacher isn’t teaching, so I have a new one. She is great, too, I really like her! She is more technically oriented and that is a good thing, because it’s always good to learn different perspectives! 🙂

Another Week Gone By

So well then.

Last weekend was more agility. Goodness I’m so addicted! I love agility. 🙂 Levi did really well, except he had a couple bad things that kept him from Qualifying. He got 1 Q out of 3.. he got his first JWW Open Q, so that was good. He almost got his standard both runs, but one he missed the weaves 2ce (for two refusals) and the other he knocked a darn bar. Triple spread jump. I hate that jump. My classmate brought her triple spread to class so we can practice it for a while, as Nick also dropped a bar or two.

Otherwise it was great fun. What a wonderful way to spend the weekend. I brought Lucy, too, and ran her in novice standard. She did really well! Walked across that darn broad jump, though. But that’s okay, I’m going to practice the broad jump at home, see if we can fix that and get her standard novice preferred title. Then she’ll be done with agility.

Chase is the smartest boy ever. He is learning his wait really well! I’m impressed with the boy. (Dont tell the collies, but I think he’s smarter lol.) But then, I’m working with him when he is young, and I know oh so much more than when the collies were young. 🙂 And I love the positive training.

Anyway… the server is coming back online. Most is up. I need to work on the utahdogs.com site, it’s boring now, needs some spice. 🙂

Going Along

Well, it’s almost Thanksgiving. Hrmph. Too weird, it comes way too fast anymore. Tomorrow is the big day. Should be fun. We are doing the typical feasting at my Mom and Dad’s house. I do love the holidays.

I got my web server mostly going again. Photo galleries are up. Main web page is up. Web cam is going. UtahDogs.com is up again on a new board, restored from the old. I don’t think the permissions are set quite right, though, because I’m not able to change the templates remotely. I’ll need to check on that. I need to get it going again. It was a nice site, now it’s just the board, rather boring. And I don’t think any of the pictures came across, so I need to get that set up, too.

But, agility this weekend, and I think it’s only 1 ring, so Sat and Sun will both be all dayers.

I think I’m going to take Lucy, too. I took her to the vet last night and she seems okay. She could have arthritis, but the vet moved here here and there, this way and that, and said she doesn’t have a very good range of motion, especially in her left elbow, but she doesn’t seem unhealthy in any way. We got some anti-inflammatories to see if they might help. So perhaps Lucy just doesn’t like to jump. I just don’t want her to be in any pain.

She is just not a motivated pup. She likes eating, and laying around, and going on slow walks. But going fast is not her style. Silly girl. She is hard for me to train and motivate. Levi is easier, and Chase will probably be easier too. Levi is a pleaser boy and I think Chase is mostly too.

I haven’t worked with Chase much yet… been concentrating on Lucy and Levi. Mostly Lucy with that last UKC trial. She did pretty good, and would have Q’d had she gone over the jumps instead of around them. Silly goof. 🙂

Holiday Tomorrow

Well, life goes on. I have the new web server up, but only with minimal functionality. I have the two photo galleries working okay, which are the most important things. I’m not too concerned with animalfoster.com, or utahdogs.com, because they are so low volume. But I hope to get at least utahdogs.com up pretty soon. I do want to put it on a different computer, though, and I’ll need a power supply for that before I get it going. And I need my mail working too.

I’m jogging again, which is great. Only going a couple miles at a time though, but last night 2 miles was just not enough. It took me only about 25 mins. So I might up it tomorrow to my 2.93 loop through the neighborhood. I’ve only been taking Levi, ’cause Chase needs to understand loose leash walking first. So I work with Chase after my run with Levi.

I had surgery on my mouth last week. Yuckola. I had three gum grafts. They take gum from the roof of your mouth and graft it onto teeth. Three teeth on my right side. I guess my gums were receding really bad. Geesh, it sucks getting old. I totally understand the saying “Youth is wasted on the young.” I need some of that youth!
