Differences

You know, I really don’t understand the differences between IE and Firefox. My new layout, blog and home page, look different in IE than they do in Firefox. And I really really really, really, most definitely really, do not want to spend the time trying to fix them all up. Maybe I will, but not today.

I do like the new layout, though. Much nicer. I like how the sock pictures fit in, too.

Anyway…

I don’t know if I’m going to go to agility class tonight. I want to, but there is a blizzard outside, and I don’t want to drive for 20 miles each way in a blizzard. I cannot drive in the snow on the freeway, since my two rollovers. I would have to take side streets and it takes me almost an hour to get there.

But then I love going. I love my instructor, and my classmates, and we have a good time. And I learn every time I go. Sometimes it’s something small, and sometimes it’s something big. But I enjoy working with Levi and Chase in class, and watching the other dogs, too.

We are having Lake Effect snow today, so it is supposed to snow until 6am tomorrow morning. I guess no one told Mother Nature that it’s spring, and it is supposed to be clear and warm. Maybe she and Jack Frost are having an argument and he’s winning. 🙁

Anyway, I could work with the pups at home some. Lucy and I are going to take a heeling class, I’m excited. I like the teacher and Lucy does too. I won’t ever get Lucy into Utility or anything in obedience, but I’d like to get her CD. And the only thing she is poor on is her off leash heeling. That’s why she breezed through Rally Novice. Because onleash she is great. And if I can talk to her, she is also good. But obedience is so quiet, and so serious… I prefer agility and herding, and Rally is fun. Maybe I’ll enter Lucy in Advanced Rally after the class, too, to see how she does. I hope we improve. I have three things to work on with her. Now, I better remember what they are…

1. Touch – having her touch while we are walking. Making sure my hand looks the same when she gets the treat as when she touches. Carry the food in my right hand and feed in my left hand.
2. Get-It with a slight collar pop. Just a little pressure, so she relates it as being a good thing.
3. Uh Oh…. what was number three? I better remember before class on Thursday! 😀

Anyway, almost time to go home.

Left Side Walking

Okay, Went to a Bobbie Anderson Seminar last weekend, and it was pretty good. Her dogs were very impressive. Though I still prefer clicker training. She seems to use repitition and positives, but also believes on very mild correction.

So, it inspired me to start working on obedience with the boys. Lucy is, I think, pretty much messed up. Not sure how to fix her. She works great for treats, and the clicker, but when the treats are gone so is she. I feel bad that I messed her up, poor girl. I was just trying to do what I was taught. Which I now know was wrong.

Levi is doing really great with Left Side Walking. I had him in the backyard last night without any leash, and the sweetie was really starting to understand that being on my left side got him a C/T. If he was on my right side, he wouldn’t move to the left… but if he was behind me he’d chose my left side to come up on. I think that’s great! And only our second session.

Chase is also doing well. He doesn’t chose the left side yet when he’s on the right, either, but if he’s behind me he’ll come up on the left. I walked around a lot with him on my left, C/T ing, so he’d get the idea.

It’s just so cold outside. 8 degrees this morning. I think it was in the low 20s last night outside. Ugh.

But, hopefully this will work our way into the obedience ring. Rally for sure!

AKC here we come!

Okay… well! Last weekend was Chase’s first AKC trial. And he did SUPER! He didn’t Q on Saturday, because he had a knocked bar. He also had two Refusals but Novice is okay with that, so he would have Qd had he not knocked that darn bar! 🙂

Chase DID Q on Sunday! Woo woo! Two refusals again.. the boy gets going so fast, I don’t know if I signal the next jump soon enough or what, but he then circles around a couple times before I can gather him back up and we finish the course.

We just did JWW. No Standard yet, as his contacts are not solid. His is learning the Teeter okay, almost has it at full height at home. And his A Frame Contact is so-so, but when he really gets moving his butt comes off, so he’s not 2o2o. But we are working on that. He thinks the table, at speed, is a launching pad, so we gotta work on that too. And he hasn’t been on the dog walk much. My dog walk at home is so bulky and heavy, it’s hard to set up, so I haven’t done it much, but I better get at it.

Chase’s weaves are beautiful. When he only has 6 polls, he looks for the rest. 🙂 I’m so proud of that boy.

Levi, on the other hand, didn’t weave at all last weekend. 🙁 I don’t know what to do with that boy. Not enough time to fix them for this upcoming weekend, either. Oh well. We’ll practice tonight with guides and see what we can do. Otherwise his open courses are beautiful. Gotta fix those darn weaves. Probably have to stop trialing him for about 6 months or so.

Also this weekend… Lucy is in Rally! First Rally trial. Should be fun. I think it’ll be so much better than obedience, since I can talk to her, and Novice is all on leash. 🙂

If she flies through novice (If I don’t mess up the signs), then maybe I’ll even try her in open. She is so-so off leash, if I can talk to the girl! 🙂

Ugha

Hormones suck. Mainly PMS sucks. Parental fights suck. Rotten tones of voice suck. Life, in general, just can suck.

UKC Obedience with Lucy Friday night and Saturday. I hope we don’t suck. LOL

We will work on it some tonight.. no sucking, that is.

Sleeping definitely does not suck, and I wish I could do some now.

Nothing Much

I don’t have much to say today. Got a 2ndary server up over the weekend, to run my mail. Got it running but today it’s down *sigh* I don’t know why. Servers are hard.

UKC Obedience with Lucy this weekend. I have been working with her every day! I hope we do well.

I’m tired and want to go to bed…
