We have another collie. She is one of those dogs you just can’t help falling in love with when you meet her. I think she will develop a lot of confidence over time! Right now she is a bit skittish and highly distracted. She’s very focused on our cats, too. She has met them and doesn’t hurt them, but she is too focused. Nothing else interests her when the cats are around. I’ll be working on this over the next while.
She also doesn’t have much of an appetite. And she’s so skinny! Not sure how to get her to eat more, we have a vet appointment today at 1pm, so hopefully they can shed some light on this non-eating deal. She eats enough to get by, but not really enough to gain weight. The silly girl. Hrmph.
She is from a shelter in Idaho. A teacher spotted her in the fields, but Jewel was too shy and scared to come to her. So they fed her until animal control could trap her. Poor dear was wet and cold and skinny and had a bone stuck in her jaw. The wonderful people at the shelter, and an amazing volunteer, got the bone out of her jaw and cut her burrs out. She now has a bit of a short coat, but it’ll grow back and she’ll be a gorgeous tri colored rough collie! 🙂
I already love her. We’ll find her a great home!
She’s also on petfinder!
This is Mac. He is a smooth sable collie boy. Very sweet. He didn’t like me very much when I picked him up last night. He was sad to go, and his family was sad to let him go.
He is in a great foster home now and we will find him a wonderful home.
Mac will be 6 years old next February. He loves to run and play. He’s quite energetic and loves his toys. He needs some work walking nicely on a leash, but he loves to go out and go for rides. He also loves treats.
He will probably be on petfinder in the next little while. We need some good pictures of him. Unfortunately my digital camera is horrible and I need a new one. It’s so slow that I can’t get any good dog pictures! Oh well, I’ll get a new one soon I think. 🙂
So, Mac needs a new home!
Like I need anymore dog things to do. :p Yeah yeah yeah, I’m nuts. But I just love the collies. I do. I cannot help loving the collies, and I want to help them.
So, with the help of the wonderful sheltie rescue people, I’m going to help out with collie rescue. I built a little website, Utah Collie Rescue. Let me know what you think.
We have Cheyenne, but he’s still through the Utah Sheltie Rescue. And there is another smooth sable boy who needs a home. With Barbara’s help, he now has a foster home. So I’m getting my feet wet. And then see how it goes.
I cannot house them all, unfortunately, though I wish I could. And I cannot go into debt for them. I do have to take care of myself first, to be able to take care of them. This will entail learning how to say no, and learning how to set my boundaries, and learning how to deal with my Social Anxiety with the people. It will be a stretch for me, but I think a good one. I think I’m ready for this.
